The Reason Gayle Looks Likely to Start Against Cardiff

As reported by the Chronicle. Dwight Gayle won the EFL fans Player of the month award for the month of October.

The Newcastle hitman fully deserves his award and it is very likely that his winning this award will see his place in the side for the Cardiff game this Saturday safe.

In Gayle’s two game absence from the side, Aleksandar Mitrovic has returned to form, scoring four goals in only two games and being arguably the best player on the pitch on both occasions.

However, Gayle’s winning of this award coupled with his 11 goal haul this season should see his place for the Cardiff game safe.

There has been much discussion amongst fans this week about whether it should be Mitrovic or Gayle this week and there is certainly a case for both to start but as Gayle has been the clubs first and best choice since the start of the season, it stands to reason that he will start at the weekend.
