What Is Wrong With Mitrovic?

As reported by the Chronicle, Rafa Benitez seems to be putting Aleksandar Mitrovic’s lack of goals down to a lack of confidence.

The Serbian striker has managed only four league goals this season, but Benitez seems far from worried, saying:  “I was really pleased for him the other day.

“Against Bristol City he worked hard and if he scores goals he would be happier and with more confidence.”

Rafa also seems to feel that he should have been awarded a penalty against City, when asked about the situation with Aden Flint, Benitez added: “Yes, I think so.

“It was obviously a crucial situation and he didn’t give it.

“I don’t like to talk about referees too much because we had to be better in the first half.

“It would have made a difference but I won’t make this excuse.”

However, despite feeling positive about Mitrovic, Benitez has refused to rule out a return to the starting line-up for top scorer Dwight Gayle, saying: “He has been training and will train on Sunday and we will see,”

  1. Has anyone asked Benitez why he doesn’t play mitro and Gayle up top together ?
Mitro to hold up and flick on and Gayle to run into channels ?
    Seems obvious ?
