Game on! Sunderland v Newcastle.

Derby day tension and excitement is set to ensue as Newcastle make the short trip down the A19 to visit the unfortunate souls of Sunderland.

The importance of this match needs no more attention. We all know what it means and we all know that the team must try their hardest to win at the Stadium of Light. The 5-1 last time out will only add to the spectacle, but in reality it will seem a long way away should we suffer defeat today.

Taking the derby-tinted glasses off though, which is hard, Sunderland are a good side when they play at home. Their record backs this up as they have only lost one league game at home this season, so with that in mind, even though it’s not what I want, you would have to say that even if we could only manage a draw it would be a good result. Anything other than defeat basically gives us the bragging rights until next season, and a point away from home takes us another point closer to safety.

The major bit of news is regarding the absence of Andy Carroll and Cheik Tiote for the away side. Those two will be sorely missed, and I’m sure they will be missing the chance of playing in the North-East derby, especially Carroll. Naturally, for more team news and stats you can peruse the NUFCblog.info match preview by clicking this link.

The match will not be broadcast live here in the UK, but it is being broadcast in various countries around the world. A quick look at the list of streams available gives me hope that those unable to watch the game will be able to watch it online, but if any of you guys and gals find a decent stream then please don’t hesitate to share a link with fellow Newcastle fans.

So this it. The 133rd Tyne-Weat derby is about to begin. Newcastle have historically been on top in the fixture. I hope that today we have a case of history repeating and we leave the Stadium of Light this afternoon with at least a point in the bag!

Howay the lads!

  1. If we keep it at this score up to 70 mins we can hit them on the break. I’d bring Ranger on at the 70 mins mark.

  2. Is anyone else using that tvoo stream starting to have issues? Regular buffering and lots of breaking up?

  3. ahh Jonas, he should at the very least be hitting the target from there like, that’s a good chance. Excellently won from Shola again.

  4. Shola is providing a canny outlet down those flanks. I still wouldn’t mind seeing Ranger for 10 maybe as he tends to hold the ball up well in these situations and is full of energy if nowt else.
