Game on! Newcastle v Tottenham.

Charles N'Zogbia.
Charlie opens the scoring last time out against Spurs.
It’s game on as Newcastle take on Tottenham at St James’ Park this afternoon in a match that could prove vital for the aspirations of both sides.

A win for Tottenham and Harry Redknapp and co will be talking of a title charge for the remainder of the season, whereas a win for Newcastle could perhaps signal a late season charge towards a top-half finish in the table, and dare I say it, maybe even aim for an outside shot at European qualification?

It may sound deluded, but if results go our way today we could be sitting in 7th place in the table, with a half decent run of games coming up. Don’t get me wrong, 17th will still do for me, but given that we find ourselves in the top half of the table why shouldn’t we go for it?

Alan Pardew has said that Newcastle United have to be aiming to win games at home, and that he will set his side up accordingly. Call me fickle, but I like that a lot, and agree that we should be looking to try and force the issue at home whoever we are playing against.

He will have to try and get a win with a squad that is down to the bare bones due to injury and suspension, as pointed out in my match preview that you can read by clicking this link. You can also view some handy match stats and fun facts in that review aswell.

I’ve had a quick look and there seems to be a few streams knocking around, but if you manage to find a particularly good one, or one that just works, then please feel free to leave a link to it in the comments box below.

This will be a tough game, but Newcastle are quite capable of springing a surprise, even with a load of injuries. Hopefully they can spring a surprise today and leave Tottenham’s odious manager fuming. Is it just me, or does Redknapp have a face like a Camel’s *****? It’s almost identical to what I imagine one to look like anyway.

I see Rafael van der Vaart has been opening his gob and said that Newcastle play a lot of long-balls. The Dutchman, who usually oartners 6ft 7in Peter Crouch and feeds off his knock-down’s, needs to look at his own side. I’m guessing that ‘Van the man’ is a little bitter because he is being outscored in the league by our own Transit van in the shape of Kevin Nolan.

An honourable mention must go to superstar Argie defender, Fabricio Coloccini, as he celebrates his 29th birthday today. A nice song from the crowd would be good, and three points would be an ideal gift for the curly-haired maestro.

Howay the lads!

  2. a draw for me i think, one thing for sure it wont be a repeat of the 7-1 i once saw in the k.k. days 🙁

  3. Xisco should be shot, like a lame race horse. In no way should he be wearing the colours of NUFC 👿

  4. Their certainly gettable neither full back likes defending and the are they arent as strong as they can be with goldfish boy and Modric in the middle.

Also Cudicini has been all over the place when ive seen him in recent seasons and Gallas/Dawson are both prone to the odd howler, Not all lost just but still not overly confident… 🙁 😯

  5. C.C.havent got the wing players to get at there full backs imo.

would like to see young fergie get some game time at some point

  6. AOD – I don’t hate him, I just don’t think he is good enough. He has had enough different managers now, and NONE of them have rated him. It says a lot….

  7. Xisco can’t even get a match on the reserves. Just goes to show how thin the squad is at the moment. A little suprised he made the bench over Airey

  8. Well,we shall see how he perform if he get to play later.

I was heard that he played well in the reserves match.

And those games he played for NUFC,he score 1 on debut,he assisted 1 in this season.

Aye mate but if we can double up, Our full backs have decent pace and can cross a canny ball.

Looks like King Kennys 🙄 getting his first win, Never would i want them ****** to win but i suppose it makes life easier for us if the bottom 5 or 6 keep losing.

  10. Plus he feigned injury. To some that is acceptable, but to me it isn’t and shows a disprespect to the shirt I wear.

  11. toonsy: Whether he feigned injury or not,it already seems to Him as a person/player that,”Oh well, even i am not injured,i am still not selected”,why shall i stay on here?i rather go out on loan and play some games?

  12. CC – I’m still awaiting the press to start with their deluded tag with regards to Liverpool apppointing a former legend 🙄

  13. Bale at left back, Cudicini in goal, Goldfish starting.. these are the positives.

Pienaar debut, Luka Modric and Van Der Vaart.. these are the negatives.

For us: 1st choice full-backs starting, and a reasonably safe starting line-up. Hope we see young ferguson today- him and Nile are the only exciting things for us on the bench. Hope they both get a look in… especially Shane, he could do well against Spurs’ playing style.

  14. My dislike for Xisco isn’t personal or even his fault, it’s just the thought of someone making 60K and providing us with nothing. And I disagree with people who say that he hasn’t been given a fair chance- he’s now played for 5 managers and no one rated him enough for even the bench except in desperate times.

That being said, I’d gladly accept a brace from him today 🙂

  15. AOD – It wasn’t HIS choice to go on loan. He got sent on loan, and he didn’t even play regularly for the team he went to. He has done **** all since he arrived, and FIVE managers will back me up on that. This is why he isn’t playing, because he eaither isn’t good enough or isn’t showing that he is good enough.

If he can’t be arsed to at least try then I can’t be arsed to supprt him. I’d we got rid of Xisco over Alan Smith. At least Smith actually has a desire to play….

Is this “Xisco in the shop window”?

Yes. On the discount rack next to the David Edgar shirts

  17. I like Pienaar, in the limited amount of time I’ve seen him play. Zipping around the midfield, combined well with Fellaini very well for Everton, I thought.

Fellaini seemed like a hell of a player last season but I haven’t seen him much lately.

  18. I definitely rate Pienaar mate. Reckon he’s a canny, dangerous little player, woulda love us to sign him! Not so sure about his attitude though? Reckon he may have trouble establishing himself in the spurs starting line up

  19. @toonsy:Chills toonsy,different opinion’s on Him only….. 😥

But my stand is this: 1) You want sell a player quickly,u gotta show the player to buyers that is worth buying.

      (Quote)

  20. Problem with selling Xisco is that he’d have to agree with a 40K a week paycut for anyone to take him. Might be asking a bit much.

      (Quote)

  21. AOD – I’d give him away to be honest, or at least make him earn his money by clearing tables and pot washing around the ground etc.

Mind you, he’d probably be **** at that aswell.

      (Quote)

  22. MDS – He is on 55k a week aint he? He’d surely have to agree to a 55k a week pay cut for him to play football again ever?

I think Pienars ok but i would never move Bale to accomodate him.

I wonder if Arrys got any scars after being set on by 6 🙄 muggers, not one person helped him but to be fair Arry having men kneeling down in front of him gripping his trouser leg probably aint such a rarity like… 😉

  24. I think Pienaar, Modric and Van Der Vaart is a pretty potent midfield combination, they all like to play football and don’t give the ball away cheaply.

Pity we couldn’t sign Pienaar, at the same time in his early years he couldn’t get a regular game for Dortmund, but after moving to Everton his game improved a lot…

Howay the lads, let’s still give it our best shot, we need the points !!!
