Game on! Fulham v Newcastle.

Newcastle tackle Fulham.
Its been a while, quite a while, and a fair bit hs gone on since our last game against Tottenham 11 days ago.

The football, thankfully, returns tonight as Newcastle head to the banks of the River Thames to take on Fulham. Craven Cottage is quite possibly the most picturesque Premier League ground around. It has character, charm, and a lovely view of the River Thames.

I was there, as was MarkToon, in our relegation season, which is why I managed to take in the splendour of the ground and it’s surrounding area. After all, the football was pretty dire. I recall that we lost 2-1 that day, and I think Amoebi scored the consolation goal with Fabricio Coloccini conceding a penalty. Anyway, I’ll stop reminiscing now as that is all in the past. What is important is the match tonight!

Three points would be brilliant, even a point would be decent, and I’m sure the team will be wanting to put the points on the board as soon as they can as they aim for safety as soon as possible. It will be tough though, very tough, as Fulham appear to be waking up and have been getting some decent results as of late.

If you want to read a bit more background on the fixture as well as ponder the team news and take in some fun stats then please feel free to read the NUFCblog.info match preview if you haven’t already done so.

The match will be live on Sky Sports this evening and will be broadcast in 3D, but for the majority of us who don’t have access to such luxury you could possibly pick a stream from MyP2P. I’m not promising anything though, so if you know of a decent stream then please feel free to post a link up in the comments section below.

Kick off is scheduled for 8pm UK time so you will need to adjust that depending on your location around the globe. Hopefully the game will be worth watching for all of us!

Team news is as follows….

Fulham: – Mark Schwarzer, John Pantsil, Chris Baird, Brade Hangeland, Aaron Hughes, Clint Dempsey, Danny Murphy, Steve Sidwell, Damien Duff, Moussa Dembele, Andy Johnson.

Subs: – David Stockdale, Carlos Salcido, Jonathan Greening, Simon Davies, Gael Kakuta, Zolton Gera, Diomansy Kamara.

Newcastle: – Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Joey Barton, Danny Guthrie, Kevin Nolan, Jonas Gutierrez, Shola Ameobi, Leon Best.

Subs: – Tim Krul, James Perch, Sol Campbell, Shane Ferguson, Peter Lovenkrands, Nile Ranger, Michael Richardson

Howay the lads!

  1. Ross – Usually when a player has all black boots it’s an invitation to potential sponsors. Like a “your name here” kind of thing 🙂

    Reet, gotta go…..

  2. The Fulham lot are just letting us boo Duff, lol. No reply, no encouragement. All you can hear is a sea of boo’s every time he touches the ball

  3. TonyGreen-We haven’t looked especially good in general. Ranger has looked lively but it’s been tight and neither team has had much chance to get anything going thus far.

  5. Why is it when it does something as simple as rain, it’s ONLY the sky channel i’m watching that f*cks up? Ridiculous man. Almost as bad as ESPN.

  6. Batty-he enjoys holding a shirt or two in the box like. Every defender does it but the spotlight is being shined on him every time Hangeland goes to ground.

We are going to struggle to hold onto collo and Jose

That’s why I have no problem if some of the 35M is used to resign those two plus Barton.

  9. Few wasted set pieces today from Barton, he’s whipped one canny ball into the box but another 2 or 3 have been useless like.

  10. Agreed mate! Money stays within the club and secures these guys then great. We now need 2 strikers but I for one am excited to see benny and Ireland together with ranger now shollas out for a while.

  11. I think we need to spend big on one striker to fill the gap left by Carroll, and need Ranger/Best to step up and show they can contribute consistently

  12. beatski-We need strikers now sadly mate. If it turns out Shola has done canny damage to his cheek bone, it could be what..6/8 weeks at worst?

Lets hope Ranger finds his shooting boots.

  13. aye we do like ross, that’s why it was such a woeful decision to ship Carroll out wit 3mins left of the transfer window. Although i’m almost happy some of the panic buys didnt come off

  14. Best moment of the game for us by far..,maybe our only moment. Best should be hitting the target, at least there. He’s leaning backwards but he’s not exactly under pressure like.

  15. Excellent ball from Jonas right after that aswell. Their lad did very well not to find his own net there, harder to clear that than it was to put it in the net.

  16. my guess at the first post-match interview question that Pardew will be asked: “So how does losing Shola and Carroll in the same week affect your striker options going forward.”

Padew’s response: “How the F do you think it affects us? We have 3 first team strikers left and will be leaning on the youth from now on. Any other obviously dumb-a$$ed questions?”

  17. NorCal-Nah it’ll be “i’ve got 35 million to spend in the summer”

    1. We need strikers now mate. Our best walked off without a replacement and

    2. Quite simply, no you dont.

  18. Had to happen like that, didn’t it?

Loverman and Best really combined well against West Ham and I’d like to see them paired again , but I can’t see Pardew taking Ranger, the sub, off.

  19. We should never EVER sell our players to other Prem teams…why oh why do they seem to score against us…
