Capello’s double-standards about Joey Barton!

Fabio Capello speaks about Barton.
Like most of you, I’ve read the comments from Fabio Capello about our current No7 Joey Barton. To be honest they’ve really pissed me off.

This morning saw quotes from Capello suggesting that Barton is good enough for England, but how it’s unlikely that he will pick him for the national side thanks to his ‘hot-headed’ nature. Is it just me that finds the irony in this statement outstanding?

First off I guess we need to take a look at what was said by Postman Pat, who incidentally has still not been to see any players at St James’ Park and sends his minions up here to do the dirty work for him. Why not? The art of delegation is key in management, and at £6 million a year in wages he has a lot of delegation to get through. Anyway, this is what he said:

“He is a good player but he is a dangerous player because sometimes you could end up playing 10 v 11. He might get sent off,” Capello said in the Guardian.

Asked if he was worried Barton’s “head might go”, Pat said: “Yes. But this is not a good moment to decide something about him. When a player is fighting with his club, it is normal to stay outside. The relationship between a club and a player is really important.”

Now Barton may get sent off, but other players may also get sent off. It’s interesting to see that Jack Wilshere has been sent off more times than Joey Barton had been at the same age. No worries over the alleged woman-beater no?

I also find it amusing that Capello cites one of the reasons for not picking Barton is because his “head might go”. I’m assuming this is not a concern for the notoriously short-tempered Wayne Rooney? Double-standards again?

At this point people will point out Barton’s chequered past and use it as a stick to beat him with. It wouldn’t be so bad, or so hypocritical, if Capello didn’t have a team full of players with previous transgressions.

First off we have John Terry with his philandering ways and private tours of club property. Then Rio with his “missed” drugs test, Gerrard and the nightclub incident, Wilshere and his alleged woman beating, Andy Carroll is no shrinking violet either. Oh and don’t forget Rooney and his penchant for the OAP side of vice.

The hypocrisy is outstanding and just about sums up why I have zero time for the current England national setup which, as a proud Englishman, is something that is horrible to say.

It was all supposed to change after our dismal World Cup last year, but it’s blatantly obvious that old habits die hard when it comes to Capello and his band of *****. For Joey’s sake, recent Twitter outbursts aside, I hope he continues doing what he is doing and continues to put the pressure on the England setup through his performances on the field of play.

Unfortunately though I feel that he is pissing against the wind with Postman Pat and Co.

  1. I no longer even watch England games on telly because I feel no connection with the team…

  2. Toonsy Capello is a grade A ****** that has no intentions of giving Joey a chance he will stick with the shower he has and maybe a few young yes boys along the way. I can remember him saying he would pick players on how they are playing not their reputation but like our board he is just a lying c@nt

  3. Barton is one of several “bigged up” but at the end of the day average English midfielders currently doing the rounds. Agree with Dimpleboy@1…

  4. I agree, it does appear hypocritical tho the players mentioned, Terry, Ferdinand, Wiltshire, Carroll & Rooney are much better than Barton IMO

  5. Does Capello realise that Barton has not even gotten 5 red cards in his entire career??? 🙄 🙄 🙄

  6. Sorry – disagree on this one. I totally agree that Capello and his band of tossers are a waste of carbon emissions, but can you really blame him for not wanting Barton within 20 miles of his camp?

The guy has spent the past 2 weeks reminding us what a poisonous, self-deluded, self-important little **** he is. Yes, all the things listed about other players are true – but they’re all saints compared to Barton, who takes just about every kind of bad behaviour to a whole new level compared to them. (Except adultery, thinking about it. Everyone has their up-side.)

It wouldn’t matter if I was running an international football team or a band of fekking window cleaners – I’d keep anyone like Barton well clear of my operation.

And have you seen Barton’s response? Is he back on drugs, for chrissakes?

      (Quote)

  7. Hitman – Nope. He sends his assistant. He’s never been to Sunderland either although I can’t blame him for that 😆

  8. * Sorry – take out the “back”. I don’t recall every hearing about him and drugs – just booze.

  9. Can’t believe Capello still has that job. You couldn’t have pooch-screwed the world cup much more thoroughly if you’d tried. I hate the whole England setup with a passion.

Hughton for England! Hughton for England!

  10. whimpie, you pick the best players that are english, you dont judge you just play the best team at hand, capello should not be judging barton he should be picking him on what he does on the pitch nowt else,if hes not picking him for off field acctions he should not be pickin gearrad also..

  11. Hitman – Spot on., Gerrard has not played consistently for a season now, yet when he is fit he will get picked without having to prove he can handle it again.

  12. Yeah Whumpie( the back on drugs bit ) very bad form to blacken someones name and reputation just because you deslike him and are having a rant 😯

  13. No, you pick the guys most likely to win a tournament. And let’s face it – would you put any money on Barton making it through one without:

    1. Getting sent off
    2. Pissing off his team mates
    3. Pissing off his bosses

He’s bloody poison in any camp! He’s bad enough when he’s sat at home; can you imagine him in the ‘Big Brother household’ situation he’d have to deal with at a Euro championship? He’d be in a fight with most of his team inside the first hour. And this is the lad who’s already pissed a lot of the squad by directly accusing them of being a bit ***** and claiming he’s the “best English midfielder”. Great move, Joey – way to fit in and be welcomed!

    He’s an arsehole.

  15. Too right Hitman. It’s been England’s problem for years. Too many players picked or played to satisfy their giant egos irrespective of whether they are in any kind of form at all.

AndrewT – True mate.He broke the Dutch transfer record to move to Ajax but has not quite been a huge success there. He had a falling out with Martin Jol and he was on the verge of joining West Ham last season on loan. And he was so desperate for the move to happen that he was slagging off the manager in public. But,new manager and a new chance might have convinced him to stay. Jumping the gun here a whole lot but heres a video of him for you –

  29. Sulejmani appears like more of a winger than a striker though. Although, he also seems like he would be able to focus on the striker role if it were handed to him. I suppose we’ll see.

Thanks for the background info on him having problems with Jol. I guess that would explain why i didn’t really here about him too much. Although if he were a record signing, I doubt they would easily let him go.

What’s the point in that? There’ll be no fecker in the box to finish!

Actually quite worried about where our goals may come from.

  37. Right – sprog to bed, back at the PC. Where were we…

Oh, yes. I totally agree with Capello – keep Barton away; he’s a bloody liability. You DO NOT just pick the best players, you put together the best SQUAD to win a tournament. That’s partly down to playing well and partly down to playing well together over a period of weeks with lots of boredom time in a hotel in between.

Barton just fails on too many points; everything about him is a risk. If he was Messi, you may take a punt, but he just isn’t that demonstrably better than other players to be worth it.

….and that’s about the only thing I agree with that overpaid git Capello on. I’d avoid most of his ****-kissing, adulterous, ‘in-with-the-in-teams’ losers he insists on playing. Come to think of it, if he did take Joey in 2012 at least we’d have the satisfaction of hearing about him beating the living ***** out of his team mates. Most of them need a good slap.

Roll on the rugby world cup.

  41. Ice I know that mate but atm he only see’s MA once a week how would he feel having to see him all the time and doing his dirty deeds

  42. Whereas hitman bases his opinions on a cross between Football Manager 1.0 and Subuteo. Billy the Fish had a better understanding of the game.

I just get sick of the gullible Joey-worshippers to read all the obvious pseudo-intellectualism and supporter-buttering bullshit. Joey’s playing them like a fiddle.

For what it’s worth, if Joey stays I’ll still want him on the pitch. But to get arsey because other managers openly say they don’t want him is ridiculous. Worse – it attracts nothing but ****-take from outside, where people see him for what he is: a good footballer, but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is and nowhere near worth the hassle.

      (Quote)

  43. …doesn’t make Capello and England any better mind. His assessment of Joey is about the only thing he’s said that makes any sense.

But as I stated above when you wrongly slander Joey as being a druggie because of your hate filled rant and call other people names I think its time to look at yersel 😉
