Game on! Newcastle v Everton

Nigh on a full house?
It’s seems strange to start one of these articles off with a ‘good morning’ but then again it’s not often we have an early start.

So in that sense it’s good morning and welcome to the match article which will take us all through every twist and turn of the Everton game.

A 12:45 kick-off has not put off a crowd that is expected to soar above 50,000 for the first time this season. That little feat is made all the more impressive when you consider that this early kick-off is on Sky TV here in the UK. Generally speaking an early kick-off plus a game being televised results in a dip in attendance, but not this time thanks in part to the rather decent offer of half price season tickets and in part thanks to the performance of the team.

Speaking of team performance, a win against David Moyes’ side will see us move into 2nd place in the Premier League for a couple of hours at least. With Manchester United playing the tramps from down the road at Old Trafford at 3pm you would have to say that should we rise to the loftier heights of 2nd then it will only be for a couple of hours and we’ll just have to settle for 3rd place as we head into the international break.

In terms of previewing the game,Shamrock has penned a most excellent match preview which you can view here. It’s full of useful stats and analysis which you can peruse at your leisure. You can also have a look at the Zoe’s take on how to beat Everton in her article here.

As for the match itself, as mentioned earlier it is on TV which in turn should mean that there are plenty of streams available for those who aren’t going to be at the game or don’t subscribe to Sky. The key word in that last sentence though is “should” as there is always a chance that the ones that do show up are a bit, well, pony.

That just about wraps this up really as we’re mainly here for the match. Can we make it 11 league games unbeaten this season and head into the international break with an even bigger spring in our step? You never know…

  1. The game seems to be passing Gosling by…to be expected really, the bloke hasn’t been anywhere near the team. Strange decision by AP… 🙄

  2. Better Jonas…

I thinkbthe reason he’s been ineffective going forward is because without Obertan, we only have one outlet from defense so he is double marked.

Obertan is a far bigger player for us than most peopl realise.

  3. Get Guti off and play HBA on the wing. Guti is shattered. HBA cant do any worse from that position.

  4. I hope that tactical change works, bit concerned about the coverfor the full backs unless Guthrie or Gosling are going to sit back andstay back now…

  5. Guthrie is crucial the last 15…hope we don’t get anymore injuries…we have all three subs on now… 🙄 🙄

  6. We are struggling cos our forwards have stopped defending in the second half, and Everton can push higher up the field.

  7. Yep, if it continues like this Everton will equalise and maybe even win. We need to get hold of the ball and keep it. They are pressing us too deep into our own half…

  8. We have lost our structure and are being outpassed by Everton…losing 2 key midfielders is maybe too much for us. Howay lads…dig deep !!

  9. Come on slow the game down. Bring Shearer on to shield the ball in the corner for 10 minutes 😆 😆

  10. Yes Big Dave, the 1st team is finally burning out. Break will do them the world of good. Bit concerened how rusty some of our back up players are looking though…

  11. Come on boys, hold tight! 1st game in a while I’d say we were lucky to hold on for. Everton could easily have got a point today if their finishing was a bit better!

  12. What a nervy second half, nevertheless what a good win. Ryan Taylor, Guthrie and Jonas were pure class.

  13. King Arfa, are you joking? Guthrie was class yes, but Jonas apart from the final 5 went missing and was clearly burnt out. Raylor scored a nice goal, but was pretty aweful as a full back today and was partly to blame for the Everton goal.

  14. Will be interesting to see what is wrong with Cabaye hope its not bad.

Think Gosling and Guthrie did well though

  15. **** off with this “do we deserve to be there” If redknapp says anything else but yes he’s a ****. We’ve had our moments of luck fine, when have manure or anyone ever won anything without blind luck or dodgy ref decision at some points over the season. It was a close game but that doesn’t mean luck, we had to deal with several KEY injuries and we still grinded out the result. Boom.

  16. Agree that the international break is a good one, hopefully Cabby won’t be risked in the french games either.
