Colocinni and Tiote return – Game On! Newcastle v Swansea

Home comforts against Swansea?
Just a brief ‘Game On’ article for you all today, thanks mainly to a bit of a plumbing emergency but anyway…

Welcome one and all to the fantabulous, majestic ‘Game on’ article which will take you through every twist and turn of the match against Swansea today.

Of course today gives us another chance to pay our respects to Gary Speed as the memorial planned originally for the Chelsea game will go ahead with Gary Speed’s wife, Louise, in attendance at St James’ Park. Welsh hymn ‘Bread of Heaven’ will be sung and black and white cards depicting the number 11 will be held aloft by fans in the East Stand. It’s also fitting that the visitors today are from Speed’s homeland of Wales and I’m sure both sets of fans will combine to make it a fitting tribute to the man.

Moving on to the match itself… Team news will be supplied at the bottom of this article as and when it becomes available. However in the meantime why not take a look at Shamrock’s most excellent match preview here or for a look at a compendium of stats with regard to Swansea courtesy of nufc_stats then why not look here.

That just about sums it up from me and it really is ‘Game on’ time. Newcastle will be looking to pick up their first win in four whilst Swansea will be looking for their first away win of the season (I hate stats like that!) and with both sides capable of producing good football we could be in for a pre-Christmas cracker at St James’ Park.

  1. Welcome back tiote,Mike Williamson, after such long break.

And also Fabricio Coloccini. Glad to see Best being back to starting line up. And the bench is surprisedly back to much stronger position.

  12. Best is playing well, him and Ba are winning everything in the air. Tiote looks a bit leggy and has been caught in possession a few times but is doing ok

  13. How the hell we aren’t in the lead is beyond me, we have battered them to death.
I’m impressed with every single one of our players.

  14. On soccer saturday it sounds like we have dominated. It sounds like the wigan game we had earlier on in season when Cabaye scored the late goal. Same might happen today. 0-0 Nat half time aint the end of the world tho, at least we havent conceded a goal.

  15. We’ve got to get a couple in the net in the second half! Great show so far and liking Santon.

Lots of good attacking options on the bench too!

  16. well on top, can’t complain really, just need to take our chances, Ba is a legend, they can’t deal with him at all

  17. I know it’s only Swansea, but we look so much better with Best & Ba up top–much more danger there. They combine well.

Tiote looks a little rusty but that’s to be expected.

The defense hasn’t been tested at all. Santon had one or two loose passes, but looks pretty good going forward.

  18. Swansea have came to frustrate and only by luck is the score 0-0.

I would expect us to put them to the sword in the early second half and we must make our superiority count early on if we can because that was Swansea have no option to come at us and we can skin the life out of them with this team.

  19. Santon looks great and we’ve already seen how much his presence has allowed Jonas to get involved..surely only a matter of time…

  20. Big Dave-exactly, and the longer it takes the more frustrated we all get which only ever makes it harder 😕
