Colocinni and Tiote return – Game On! Newcastle v Swansea

Home comforts against Swansea?
Just a brief ‘Game On’ article for you all today, thanks mainly to a bit of a plumbing emergency but anyway…

Welcome one and all to the fantabulous, majestic ‘Game on’ article which will take you through every twist and turn of the match against Swansea today.

Of course today gives us another chance to pay our respects to Gary Speed as the memorial planned originally for the Chelsea game will go ahead with Gary Speed’s wife, Louise, in attendance at St James’ Park. Welsh hymn ‘Bread of Heaven’ will be sung and black and white cards depicting the number 11 will be held aloft by fans in the East Stand. It’s also fitting that the visitors today are from Speed’s homeland of Wales and I’m sure both sets of fans will combine to make it a fitting tribute to the man.

Moving on to the match itself… Team news will be supplied at the bottom of this article as and when it becomes available. However in the meantime why not take a look at Shamrock’s most excellent match preview here or for a look at a compendium of stats with regard to Swansea courtesy of nufc_stats then why not look here.

That just about sums it up from me and it really is ‘Game on’ time. Newcastle will be looking to pick up their first win in four whilst Swansea will be looking for their first away win of the season (I hate stats like that!) and with both sides capable of producing good football we could be in for a pre-Christmas cracker at St James’ Park.

  1. Big Dave, I would agree and not be upset with that at all…really like the way he charges up the pitch…very impressive and entertaining to be sure.

  3. we defo need another striker to help out with Ba and a winger thats more effective than Obertan.

We looked the better team but Swans defended well 🙁

  4. That was poor. 2 points from 15 available. These are supposed to be our bread and butter games. Is it all unravelling for us???

  5. I dont think the next 2 are must win at all. Decent point today, played well. Not the end of the world, at least its a point. Our great form at start of season makes up for games like today.

At least its a point! Howay the lads, Could be much worse, look at blackburn and bolton today.

  6. A point is a point but we really should have won by the sounds of it so I’m disappointed. Sounded like one of “them” games…

No Ben Arfa again either. He’ll not be here long I reckon…

  7. Penalty-Spot.

Some of those fans have probably been going every week for 40 years though…hardly shame on them for beating the crowds when it looks like we could play another 3 hours and not score 😕

  8. moreno we played well today , 3 points on wed and thats 30 points at xmas which will be amazing!!

santon a big plus for us today! hes getting better and better

stil no ben arfa?? whats wrong with him??

  9. Plenty of attacking chances but nobody putting them away. Ben Arfa instead of Best, or Obertan? Surely he needs to get involved

  10. Surely benny has no future here under Pards. He’s not rated on the wing and if we get another striker, where des he fit it? Vuckic and Sammy preferred as subs. Not complaining just observing

  11. Perch was outstanding. He didn’t put a foot wrong and was hassling them right up until the final minute. Quality performance.

I feel we could have done without Tiote today though. Needed a bit more craft and guile and they only had Graham up front the whole game.

  12. Yeah toonsy a point is a point. Could be in much worse situations. Least we are in the right half of the table. Thats all that matters.

  13. Well , I suppose this is a game where you can say, **** happens because Swansea came to frustrate and handled it well.

It’s these types of games where you know just 1 goal could open the floodgates but the longer it stayed stalemate, the more chance of us getting stung and that would have been hard to take, so on that note I’m not too disappointed.

Santon is class and the more game time he gets, the better he will get, so I think he’s just nailed down his spot.

A nice big applause to James Perch who I think played really well today alongside Captain marvelous Colo.

The overall team performance was very good so on that note I’m happy with that.
On another day we would have destroyed a lot of teams but fair play to Swansea, they set their stall out and stuck to it.
