Game On! Newcastle v Norwich

Game On at St James’
Newcastle host Norwich City this afternoon as the domestic season resumes once more after a brief journey into Europe and back.

The home side have drawn the last three on the spin in all competitions and will be looking to get back to winning ways knowing that three points against former manager Chris Hughton’s Canary outfit will catapult the misfiring Magpies back into the top half of the table.

I expect no tired excuses aside perhaps from our defence as this will be the third ninety minutes that some of them will have played within the space of six days. Add to that the travelling to and from Madeira and you can perhaps see why some of our defence may just be a little bit jaded, the poor souls…

Hopefully it doesn’t boil down to our defence and perhaps we can instead focus on some attacking threat? None of our big hitting attacking players made the trip to Madeira in midweek so I expect no excuses of tiredness from any of them, or anybody in our midfield for that matter.

If you choose to, you can read Shamrock’s most excellent match preview by clicking here. It’s full of fun facts and fascinating titbits regarding the history of both clubs, both in general and from when they have faced off against each other, with some sound and solid thoughts ahead of the game today.

Unfortunately this is a kick-off that has been moved due to our Europa League commitments which means that the game is not being broadcast live here in the UK. Instead Sky are fizzing themselves silly over another “Super Sunday” which has seen the “random” fixture computer schedule clashes between the bigger sides all on the same day. Funny that… Consequently if you can locate a stream and wish to share it with fellow NUFC fans then you can do so by posting the link in the ‘comments’ section below.

Which just about wraps this up. Team news, as ever, will be posted below as and when it becomes available.

Will it be happy returns for Hughton? Or will Pardew p*ss on his parade?

Howay the lads!

  1. @Instructatoon: 87- Cabaye is simply over rated. I have never witnessed his supposed talent the mob mentality preaches oozes from his feet. He is a Newcastle player I will support him but I will admit he is not talented.

  2. yeah very good Cisse, why not let this one to Benny so we almost secure 3 points.
One of the worst penaly I seen this year, what a **** was that

  3. Think its going to be a ferguson style hairdry blast from Pardew in that changing room ,why the **** did they let an out of form player take that penalty . It should of been HBA’s .

  4. It’s not even just form. Cisse just can’t score easy goals, he doesn’t seem capable of it. Mentality I suppose. Tell him to shoot from ridiculous angles and from outside the box, leave the easy chances to Ba 😉

  5. Lads I think it’s obvious why they let Cisse take it 😯 it just never worked, but if it had of worked then it would be seen as a masterstroke

  6. Feckin hell, it wasn’t harper taking the penalty, it was our striker.. why is that so strange?

  7. Dave-A masterstroke just because Cisse scored? I know people want him to get back on form and that malarky and maybe a pen will sort it, but look what’s happened now-he missed a penalty, now he’ll be suffering even more than ever surely? Plus him and Ba have already shown they’re capable of woeful penalties. You need the right player for them and it can win you a match. 2-0 and it was game over. Now Norwich are playing better, we missed a pen and they have their tails up.

    ***** call.

Because he missed one in pre season and since weve signed him two for senegal, he looks low on confidence. You dont **** around at 1-0 trying to break runs. We did that with Ba against sunderland when ameobi and lovenkrands far better penalty takers were on the pitch and it flopped.

When we beat the mackems 5-1 nolan was on a hat trick but shola took it because the points are the most important thing.
