The home side have drawn the last three on the spin in all competitions and will be looking to get back to winning ways knowing that three points against former manager Chris Hughton’s Canary outfit will catapult the misfiring Magpies back into the top half of the table.
I expect no tired excuses aside perhaps from our defence as this will be the third ninety minutes that some of them will have played within the space of six days. Add to that the travelling to and from Madeira and you can perhaps see why some of our defence may just be a little bit jaded, the poor souls…
Hopefully it doesn’t boil down to our defence and perhaps we can instead focus on some attacking threat? None of our big hitting attacking players made the trip to Madeira in midweek so I expect no excuses of tiredness from any of them, or anybody in our midfield for that matter.
If you choose to, you can read Shamrock’s most excellent match preview by clicking here. It’s full of fun facts and fascinating titbits regarding the history of both clubs, both in general and from when they have faced off against each other, with some sound and solid thoughts ahead of the game today.
Unfortunately this is a kick-off that has been moved due to our Europa League commitments which means that the game is not being broadcast live here in the UK. Instead Sky are fizzing themselves silly over another “Super Sunday” which has seen the “random” fixture computer schedule clashes between the bigger sides all on the same day. Funny that… Consequently if you can locate a stream and wish to share it with fellow NUFC fans then you can do so by posting the link in the ‘comments’ section below.
Which just about wraps this up. Team news, as ever, will be posted below as and when it becomes available.
Will it be happy returns for Hughton? Or will Pardew p*ss on his parade?

Newkie(Quote)
well done harper
CC(Quote)
Harper is rally good
HBA39(Quote)
Why we never seem dangerous from our set play?
HBA39(Quote)
Cisse cannot score easy goals.-.-”
Or that his season starts in Jan.LMAO.
Now is ba back to scoring.
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
Neewkie @ 151 yeah hindsight is a wonderful thing if Cisse had scored they would be talking about how brill it was and how it showed team camaraderie
Big Dave(Quote)
that drilled FK towards Willo that we seem to love so much is actually quite effective today
M(Quote)
well done Santon
Big Dave(Quote)
that was a good corner
HBA39(Quote)
Take that back Santon you fool that was going out 😀
Big Dave(Quote)
Dave-It doesn’t matter. He’s already missed a pen, so has Ba. Let more proven players take them.
I doubt they’d be saying it was brilliant. For me a penalty must equal a goal, anything else is very poor on behalf of the taker.
Newkie(Quote)
**** pass that, Jonas
M(Quote)
good try Benny
KIMTOON(Quote)
Not a bad shot Benny
Big Dave(Quote)
I thought Saylor had that in there 😕
Big Dave(Quote)
Bah first willo now staylor 😥
Newkie(Quote)
Strolla must be coming on soon for Cisse
Big Dave(Quote)
got to be Shola o-clock soon, we’re getting a lot of joy in the air
M(Quote)
Cabaye must be wearing high heels today
Big Dave(Quote)
If Benny doesn’t touch the ball we just no chance of creating some danger. It always him who gives us a chance to score
HBA39(Quote)
cabaye is **** to
HBA39(Quote)
cabaye has missed all this long passes what he tries to make, and lost all the balls drop him
HBA39(Quote)
Not much countering, seems we’re happy for the 1.1
Get Shola on
Newkie(Quote)
poor Cisse can’t buy a goal
KIMTOON(Quote)
1-0 even 😆
Newkie(Quote)
Willo looking a real threat lately
Newkie(Quote)
Our set pieces have been better today.
They are actually finding Newcastle players 😯
And we are threatening from them 😯
toonsy(Quote)
hope perch is o.k that’ll be all we need 🙁
KIMTOON(Quote)
Does anyone think HBA39 likes Ben Arfa?
toonsy(Quote)
and again Cabaye a pass for anyone
HBA39(Quote)
Can’t believe Norwich are just hoofing the ball up 😯
I expected more from Pep Hughton the way some go on 😆
toonsy(Quote)
yes me
HBA39(Quote)
subs!
M(Quote)
you se ben Arfa was really very nice and fair to let the penalty
HBA39(Quote)
was there ever a more dejected figure than Cisse in that last shot 😥 I hope he finds form soon.
KIMTOON(Quote)
How can “an arm” look offside when the rules say it has to be clear daylight between attacker and defender?
Commentators 🙄
toonsy(Quote)
I know Cisse’s been poor…but obertan? 😆
Newkie(Quote)
@ 181 Pep 😀
Big Dave(Quote)
Holt is one fat b****** 😆
KIMTOON(Quote)
Tiote for Anita..so Perch for RB? hmm
Newkie(Quote)
Spuds losing
Johno Toon(Quote)
City beating Arsenal
KIMTOON(Quote)
Tiote 😯
Big Dave(Quote)
Tiote = ouch
KIMTOON(Quote)
Bleeding heck Tiote! 3 game ban on another day! 😕
Shamrock(Quote)
this tactic of playing every set piece to williamson is ultimately proving fruitless as he isnt a footballer and directs them to nowhere and to nobody…still fuming we didnt get a CB and are stuck with him as back up
buddy(Quote)
well done perc h
KIMTOON(Quote)
well done Perchy
Big Dave(Quote)
Tiote is just mading some **** since he cames on
HBA39(Quote)
jez Tiote
Big Dave(Quote)
Christ alive Tiote wtf get shot man
KIMTOON(Quote)
Tiote FFS 👿 👿
toonsy(Quote)
FFS Tiote is like a red card waiting 👿
Big Dave(Quote)
Tiote is being an utter fucking disgrace today like. Sort it out ya *****. Yes, that’s how important Tiote is to our passing game 🙄
toonsy(Quote)
He’s a one man crime wave! 😯
Shamrock(Quote)
wtf tiote 😈 😈 😈
beron(Quote)
I really don’t see what most fans see in him, i’d rather play Perch. I see Oba backs out of yet another tackle
Big Dave(Quote)
Look like tiote is also unhappy about some stuff i presume. ❗
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
hba39 ,I do love your post 😆
KIMTOON(Quote)
AOD @ 208 is that not his normal game
Big Dave(Quote)
oba has no football brain at all just pass it ffs
KIMTOON(Quote)
Get rid of Obertan. Useless. Always makes the wrong decision.
Shamrock(Quote)
**** performance, but 3 points. Can’t keep playing this poorly though.
richietoon(Quote)
3 points in the bank 🙂
aussie magpie fan(Quote)
Could and should have been so much easier than that, 3 points non the less
CC(Quote)
**** me that was. But, pleased to call it exactly as it was 😆
Newkie(Quote)
that was close*
Newkie(Quote)
I have a feeling Tiote was ORDERED to come on and put himself about. Norwich were very physical today and Pards may well have told him to give them some back to break up their mentality a bit. Just a theory but reckon i’m right.
Shamrock(Quote)
yet another awful performance! this anita lad looks average enough at best…as for obertan, what a clown! no brain whatsoever! thank god for HBA, creating everything for us
buddy(Quote)
Playing poorly and coming up with a win is a part of being a successful team. Man U have done it for years… It can’t always be pretty..
aussie magpie fan(Quote)
Next game against Man utd. Please play the youths and fringe for that. It might work like previous time against chelsea 😛
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
Ugly, ugly win, but a win none the less. No such thing as a bad 3 points.
I’m giving them a break for now. We’ve got 8 points form 5 matches depite having two key players clearly out of form (Cisse and Cabaye) and 3-4 key players injured. We just need to hang on and get out points for now and then look to take off
MDS(Quote)
Sham @ 218 if that was Pards fault then I think he should hang his head in shame because Tiote could have got sent off and cost us the game, he is a fuking tool sometimes and I do believe that he will cost us a game or 2 if he gets on like that which he will 😯
Big Dave(Quote)
cisse needs to get his act together fast, the lad just isnt the same as last season.
hitman(Quote)
In all honesty I think “performance” wise this was a bit better. Ba played well, as did Benny, Harps, and Staylor/Willo looked better. The rest of the team did that they do, work hard generally, break up play…
Still it should have been much better and should have been a lot easier. At 2-0 I reckon the floodgates might have opened but at 1-0 we had to keep it cagey. 3 points is paramount.
Cisse was the worst player, although better than Obertan who was terrible when he came on. Can we just use fergie and Sammy from now on… 😕
