Game On! Newcastle v Club Brugge

Europe!
Newcastle host Club Brugge this evening as Europa League action returns to Tyneside once more.

Alan Pardew will no doubt be keen to build on the last result in this competition, which was the 3-0 victory over Bordeaux, and will be looking for another three points which will put us in pole position to qualify for the knockout stages.

A full preview of the game can be viewed here if you wish to do so. It features some preliminary team news, however after it was published we’ve been garnered with a bit more news from the powers that be. That news being that Cheik Tiote will be in the starting eleven for the game tonight, and that Xisco won’t be in the squad despite his hat-trick for the U21s the other night.

Full team news will be published below as and when it becomes available, and the other bit of good news is that the game is on the telly so if you can’t get to the ground to take advantage of the cheap tickets you will at least be able to watch it in one way or another. It’s on ESPN for those that have it although don’t worry too much if you haven’t as I’m sure there will be a stream knocking about. If you find one, share it, please. I need one as I’m in France right now and I can’t find a lot on their TV!

Which neatly wraps it up.

Howay the lads!

  1. Don’t know why Pards is getting colo to warm-up, should rest him for the weekend. Bring Campbell on for Cisse instead, let the fans see what this supposed promising player can do. The defence is doing well, no need for an adjustment to be made.

  2. “Tiote has been booked for the 30th time on his 60th appearance for Newcastle” BBC website. Well that tells us a lot, toto needs to calm the f-ck down 😕

  3. Aww, not cabaye… WE WANT CAMPBELL!!! Should be trying out the youth in these competitions, every other club does it.

  4. Andy ,I don’t think Fergie is strong enough for Lb in the prem yet ,he’s better as a winger imo.

  5. Kim
He’s looked fine there when I’ve seen him play and until he’s fully accustomed to the physical nature he’s got Jonas to help him out.

  6. Andy a decent strong fullback shouldn’t need anyone helping him out 😉 ,do you not think he’s a better assett on the wing like ❓

  9. Not even snowed up here yet (except the west coast but I’m on the other side). As long as we don’t lose the next three for some random reason , we should get throught the group relatively easliy now. Now I need Celtic to finish 3rd in their group, we then draw them and I get to go to my first Toon euro match.

  10. Not a bad game, but played at a very slow pace, and one of those games where Brugges could have sneaked an equaliser.
Team did not look very well organised in the first half, Bigi and Anita looked lost, Sammy when he has the ball looks good, but other times like his brother he switches off and just seems to be hanging around.
Personally have had just about enough of Shola, lack of real effort comes to mind very easily, just an opinion.

  11. Well a win is a win but i feel if Cabaye , Hba and Ba had played we would of give them a hammering and give the whole team a much needed confidence booster . We will have too start with our best 11 when we play them in Belgium our risk a beating .
