Game On! Newcastle v Club Brugge

Europe!
Newcastle host Club Brugge this evening as Europa League action returns to Tyneside once more.

Alan Pardew will no doubt be keen to build on the last result in this competition, which was the 3-0 victory over Bordeaux, and will be looking for another three points which will put us in pole position to qualify for the knockout stages.

A full preview of the game can be viewed here if you wish to do so. It features some preliminary team news, however after it was published we’ve been garnered with a bit more news from the powers that be. That news being that Cheik Tiote will be in the starting eleven for the game tonight, and that Xisco won’t be in the squad despite his hat-trick for the U21s the other night.

Full team news will be published below as and when it becomes available, and the other bit of good news is that the game is on the telly so if you can’t get to the ground to take advantage of the cheap tickets you will at least be able to watch it in one way or another. It’s on ESPN for those that have it although don’t worry too much if you haven’t as I’m sure there will be a stream knocking about. If you find one, share it, please. I need one as I’m in France right now and I can’t find a lot on their TV!

Which neatly wraps it up.

Howay the lads!

  2. Susan ,Glad you have faith in Cisse ,I keep saying he’ll come good ,all strikers have a rough patch.

  3. Somehow i like this europa league team than PL team. Maybe adding ben arfa to this europa league team would be quite interesting for PL. 😯

  4. Cisse looks very low on confidence. A goal will sort him I reckon. Just keep him off the pens unless we’re 5-0 up!

  5. Just saw on one of the ad boards ‘sportsdirect.be’ 😆 they really take every oportunity don’t they 😀

  6. We’ve got a batch of good dribblers–Ben Arfa, Obertan, Sammyobi, Fergie, Santon… but which of them actually can pass? Jury’s still out on Fergie & Sammy. How about Ben Arfa & Santon?

  7. Isn’t it weird that this team got so many good players that cross well, but we always lack such crosses in PL. LMAO.

  8. He’s just got to reignite soon. He’s getting lots of chances today. Pards has got to keep him on tonight, for the long term good of the team. Until he gets back into scoring, we’re so limited…

  9. Dont know whats up with Anita but the lad is better than he has shown up till now . This time last season while at Ajax he would be running the show against a team like Brugge . If he does not get going early second half i hope Pards subs him and gets HBA on .

  11. Brugge are there for the taking.
I think we will put them to the sword in the second half.
I can see this being a nice rout and I’m sticking with my 6-1.

    Ferguson’s been canny and Santon.
Tiote has been a bit lax with a few dodgy passes, other than that he’s been solid.
Pardew’s got a canny parting, so I’m happy with the way he looks.

Sammi is playing well, I just wish he wouldn’t try to take the world on at times.
    Bigi looks strong and tidy.
Obertan looks miles more confident than what I’ve seen,

Overall, we look almost too comfortable at times.
Well, I better get back for the second half on my 597.3 inch Kappa flat screen telly.

Vernon Anita off, Ameobi on, I think Vernon’s dad has told he to sort out his football pools job out. 😀

  12. Toonsy Ice doesn’t come on that much when we’re playing, he’s too old to multi task so it’s either watch the game or chat on the blog 😀

  13. So 442 now with Shola on? I think it’ll actually help. We have dominated possession pretty well, and our wide men are sending the ball in plenty. Just need the finishers. Good call by Pardew, and Shola deserves it after having to come off early from the weekend

  14. Very good. Sammy with some over the head trickery, springs speedily onrushing Golbertan on the right and he smashed one far post–maybe a touch by the goal keeper, but not enough to keep it out.

  15. 4-4-2 helped us score then? Maybe that will shut people up when they harp on about playing 4-3-3 all the time? 4-4-2 still has a place in the modern game. There is not one diablo tactic that fits all…

  16. Obertan and downing score on the same night 😯 , **** apocolypse is coming isn’t it? 🙄 😕 😆
