Game On! Fulham v Newcastle

Game On at Craven Cottage
Another Monday night and another Premier League game involving Newcastle United being broadcast around the world takes place this evening, but will the result be in the same direction as the last one?

That last one being a rather comfortable 3-0 victory over ten man Wigan Athletic at St James’ Park a week ago. It perhaps wouldn’t have been as comfortable as the scoreline suggested had the visitors had a full compliment of players, but a win is a win and it’s points on the board we so badly need.

The win last week was annoying though as we failed to move up any places in the table. It’s valued all the same, but to win a game and not move up the table feels as though you are running on a treadmill, trying to go the right way but ultimately not going anywhere. Tonight though at least a victory would move us up one place leapfrogging Fulham in the process but it will be a tough ask as detailed in my match preview which you can view by clicking the blue text.

The good news in that preview is the potential return of a number of key players such as Davide Santon, Demba Ba and Cheik Tiote, who were all left at home for the trip to Bordeaux midweek, along with a potential return to action for Hatem Ben Arfa who has missed the last few games with a hamstring strain. Of course the only way we’ll find out who is fit is by looking at the official team news which will be added in below as and when it becomes available.

As mentioned at the very top, we are being broadcast globally this evening so hopefully there will be streams available for those who aren’t fortunate enough to be at Craven Cottage this evening, for those outside of the UK or for those inside the UK who don’t have access to Sky TV. Normal rules apply with regard to posting links for fellow NUFC fans.

Which just about wraps this up really as I don’t need to add much more. Needless to say I’m hoping for a committed performance from the start this time and I’d also quite like to see Damien Duff not turn into Superman just because he is playing us. A result would be nice also…

Howay the lads!

  1. so we are going with a 4 2 3 1 with the 3 being Cisse Benny and Jonas well Cisse doesn’t seem like a good right winger and Jonas no harm to him seems to be a bit out of it so far this season, but atleast Benny gets to play behind the striker 😆

  2. Accordingly to the 3 legends on my way home tonight he’s setting them up 4-2-3-1 with the 3 being Cisse (right) Benny (middle) Jonas (left) and Ba up top.
For me, the right formation – but from that I see 2 things, firstly he’ll just not drop Jonas and secondly he’ll not move Ba from up front!!.

Fingers crossed – attack from the off!!!

For the first time in a long time, we look more threatening going forward but only since we went a goal behind. We seem to be breaking in numbers.

We have the players to score so we should gamble and flood the attack when we get it.

It’s a risky strategy but the alternative is to get beat!

If we played like KK’s team, we would win 4-3. We have the players to cause problems and score goals.

    The alternative is lose 1-0

  7. We haven’t played that badly overall. Poor first 20-25 minutes, but the better team since.

Anita is having a good game in midfield

  8. Dave – Nor me. I also fail to see how a player can be so valued by fans when he lays like this which he has done all season, when he has actually played and hasn;t been suspended or injured.

  9. Dont worry Peeps
feel we are going to break that “never won after going 1-0 down streak”

  10. Mind you I don’t think we’ve been as bad as some are making out. Their goal was just pure luck and they started well but aside from that they’ve not done a lot.

  11. Stanton has got to defend, the left hand side is wide open, Jonas is totally knackered, not contributing very much at all. Stanton is the David Luiz of Newcastle.

  12. Toonsy they had not scored for over 5 hours before this game, Williamson did a Sammy Nasri, was marking no one, but stuck his leg out.

  13. Ben Arfa needs to sort out his ball control.
    Its pathetic.
Take Cisse off now Ba will score.
    Together we will lose.
How many times have we said. They cant play together ffs
    Ghaaaaargh 😈

  14. Anyone hear that? It’s been six years and four days since we’ve won a game we’ve been losing at half time 😯
