If you have missed them then where have you been?
There is an awful lot of confusion about this. The general consensus appears to be that the rumour is true, with the Evening Chronicle seeming to verify the reports, but there are other outlets around, such as BBC Newcastle and the agent of Coloccini, who are saying that it isn’t true.
You can make up your own mind but I guess the only way we will find out is by giving it time, which is something we don’t have too much of in a January transfer window. I would guess the teamsheet at Carrow Road tomorrow may give us a clue and if Colo isn’t involved I’d say that is pretty much a confirmation that something isn’t quite right.
Personal reasons and a rumoured split with his wife are being mentioned, but then there is that word again – rumour. Wouldn’t it just be best for the manager or the player or the club to come out and say something to clear it up one way or the other?
Colo leaving us now would be very much like a rat deserting a sinking ship. Happy to sign a lucrative new deal less than 12 months ago when things were going well yet when the going gets tough he seemingly wants to quit.
The problem Colo has is that the club who are rumoured to be after him – San Lorenzo – wouldn’t be able to offer us enough money to make a deal worthwhile from a club perspective and they also wouldn’t be able to offer him anywhere near the salary he currently receives. I want a Ferrari but my finances don’t stretch that far and San Lorenzo are in a similar situation.
Undoubtedly it is bad news which means that it is usually true, but I don’t think it is as clear as the press are making it out to be. For some obscure reason I still think Colo will be a United player come February 1st but that is only a gut feeling and I’ve been hopelessly wrong with those before.
Time will tell I guess…

Well lets just sack him then and go for someone who has a reputation of success over a long period. Who you got in mind as I think Fergie and Wenger may not want to join us.
A Rogers type is slightly strange considering he had a mare at Reading and Watford and only did a good job at Swansea so that’s 1 club out of 3 he did ok with.
Anyone else out there who will come in and totally change our fortunes with players who just aren’t good enough, has a good record of success and longevity at clubs?

Regarding the style of play argument – last year we played good attacking football on the floor. But we did have Cabaye, Tiote, Ba, HBA, Jonas and Cisse all playing. This year its been Perch, Bigi, Ameobi, Obertan. How can we play the same way?

He went to Reading as a result of doing well at Watford. Do u think Reading made the right choice in sacking him?
Well hang on i never mentioned world class managers from the past 20 years.
Rodgers – developing liverpools youngsters, style?
Martinez – developing Moses, McCarthy, Nzogbia, ?
Laudrup – with his rep and football knowledge/contacts ?
Poyet – has bitched Pardew twice. Becasue the way they play works against us.
Adkins took Pardews team up two divisions playing better football.
You dont need a long record of success just not a failing record after a couple of years, and a manager who KNOWS how to play football.
Id go for Poyet. Or a foreign coach.
Look how Klopp from Dortmund came in changed their playing style and bought a load of unknown players like Kagawa Lewandowski and changed them from being a midtable team to top 2.

Regarding the development team, I have been thinking about this since the article up the other day. To be fair to Pardew, he’s only been here for 2 seasons and the young players in the development team would have already been in the system. So they aren’t really his players and if they aren’t good enough theirs little he can do about that. The youth team will need about 4-5yrs before we can judge Pardews youth team.
In terms our first team, we desperately need a win today, however it comes. There after, we need 2 players in next week whether Colo goes or not.
Remy needs a deadline to make a decision so we can focus on PEA because I worry that Remy may be waiting to see who else fancies him and I can see us missing out on a CF by waiting for him.
I’d love us to spend the money on Michael Dawson to replace Colo. Quality English CB who would be a very good leader. I also like the look of Kurt Zouma from St Ettiene – 18yrs and solid.
Beat the scum to Sissoko and off we go.
So that’s PAE, Dawson, Zouma and Sissoko in and likely Colo out.

It’s such an easy thing to roll of people’s tongues. Lets sack Pardew and get someone who knows how to play attractive football and would get this team challenging for Europe again.
I never hear them suggesting a realistic name to take over.
The facts are, whilst Ashley is in charge, Pardew is as good as we can hope for.
Chopping and changing every two seasons isn’t the answer. Any manager coming in will have the same problems that Pards is facing. You can’t keep a half decent team happy when they are playing with donkeys. You can fool the gooduns for a couple of seasons that the club is going forward but they will click on eventually which is the problem now.
We have to stick with Pards at this time and get behind him.

U know as i do, its only been a few weeks where they have all been missing. We still lost games with them all at start of season.
Last year if u thought we played good attacking football then we are watching different games. Cabaye and Benny managed to create things out of nothing themselves. Now teams know, mark them 2 and we hoof it.
We got lucky wins in a load of scrappy home games, but played well in 7/8 games at the end of the year.
Do u not remember the 4-2 at norwich, 5-1 fulham, 4-0 wigan, 3-1 everton.
And the lucky wins by odd goals against fulham at home, norwich, villa, wigan.
And how many wonder goals did our players score last year. Can’t expect them to happen again each week.

Have u seen Ba’s quotes saying we kick it forward all the time instead of more of build up play?
Even Ben Arfa said the same last year.
One can guess that Collo and Pardew fell out over something similar.

I would be gutted if we replaced Pards for him.
I wouldn’t care, Wigan are one of the favourites to go down and are in the bottom 3.

The reason we are playing hoof football is because we have Tiote, Perch, Simpson, Obertan & Wiiliams in the side.
That’s what Pards has to work with. Wenger couldn’t get anything but hoof ball out of those.

Papa – I think you miss the point. It’s pretty simple really. To be a good and successful manager you need time, good players and a good squad. Pardew hasn’t been afforded the squad required to build on last seasons relative success. It was an absolute travesty the way the club handled the summer transfer window and it had a bigger effect on the players than many supporters realise. Not only has it totally destroyed and morale but its also had an impact on the pitch due to a lack of quality in the squad. Combine the two and its the perfect relegation storm.
The blame for that and therefore this poor season cannot be left at Pardews door.

The first months of the season we played hoofball with our best players.
Tiote came from Holland and they don’t hoof it there.
Obertan came from Man U and they don’t hoof it.
If we had a passing style why would Perch and Williamson need to hoof it?

No I don think i am missing the point, its the tactics and style of football this year thats been our downfall, we started with a full squad and we were still terrible. Decisions like Cisse on the right, not starting Marveaux until weeks ago and the defence is now non existent. 442.
The poor style of play has drained confidence out of the players.
Pardew has had the same players as last year and still hoofed it.
As i say we relied on Benny and Cabaye to create for us, it wasnt the team, it was them.
Now he has slated the youngsters I havent seen any other managers do that.

I’m kind of in the middle between the two opinions. I don’t think we have the best coaching in the world. Even players like Perch, Obertan, Jonas and Tiote should be capable of pass and move. Look at the way Harry the bung has got QPR playing against Spurs. They look confident as well where as we always look so sorry for ourselves. A blind man and his dog can tell Pardew isn’t the brightest by his team selection and substitutions, they are baffling at times. But I also agree that a lot of it comes down to the resources available and Pardew can be quite a good motivator with the right resources. I agree with your comment from the other day Stuart79, Ashley either signs some players and we survive, or he doesn’t and we go down – over to you Mike.
