Game On! Norwich v Newcastle

Canaries v Magpies
Canaries v Magpies
Newcastle take on Norwich this afternoon in what is a battle between two teams that have lost form in recent times.

In fairness Norwich went on a ten game unbeaten streak prior to their poor run, a luxury that hasn’t been afforded to Newcastle United this season.

I was going to write a match preview for the game, as I usually do, but my alarm clock either didn’t go off or didn’t wake me up so unfortuntely I haven’t had the time to do so. In a brief kind of preview though we are awful at Norwich generally, we’ve been awful all season and the stats don;t look pretty. That just about covers it really…

Dominating the build up to the game has been the stroy regarding the future of Fabricio Coloccini. Personally I think a big indication will be his inclusion, or exclusion, from the team today. I reckon if he plays then things may be getting blown out of proportion but if he doesn’t, what with being fit apparently, then something could be amiss and we may have to wave goodbye to the club captain.

Speaking of team news, it’s looking a little bit better on the injury front as Yohan Cabaye may make an appearance at some point today, Papiss Cisse will play and there should be a debut for Mathieu Debuchy after his signing from Lille just over a week ago. You can of course see full team news below as and when it becomes available.

Being a Saturday 3pm kick-off means that unfortunately we aen’t being broadcast here in the UK. However a rake of overseas channels are showing the game so hopefully a stream will be available. Normal rules apply, those being that if you happen to find a decent stream don’t be shy and share it amongst your fellow NUFC fans.

Which just about wraps it up. Will Newcastle manage to secure a first away win of the season or will we be faced with more travelling woes come full-time? We shall soon find out…

Howay the lads!

  1. toonsy, if he plays it still means nowt.. Ba played, scored two goals and was at chelsea the next day near enough. Simple fact is, even if he is leaving next week or whatever, we have no defenders so he will play, it means ****** all.
This one i have to say is going Norwich way but then again… our **** form has to change sometime. notice i didnt say luck, cos we have been playing shocking all season. i hope that with Ba gone we may get some unity, but then again, with colo going… thats scuppered that one… nope… its a defo loss for us today. two **** teams but we are the shittest.

  2. Aussie I was going to go for a draw until I seen your predictions 😥

Craig I agree that Colo playing or not wont be much of a factor as he could have been told he can go next week but we need you to help us out today etc etc

  3. Just watching SSN & all they’re talking about is the Manc Usa v Cessepool match, only now & then breaking a titbit about the Qpr v Spurts game which is in process… typical frakin sky coms, only caring about what happens at the top of the table & amongst the top 6 supposed teams,,… so glad I ditched that company for live streams from abroad 🙁

As for our game today, got a sneeky suspicision that Colo will play & debuchy will score on his debut for us to win 2-1 but then we need the Scum to lose for us to actually move up the table, even if it is only 1 place 😉

  5. Spurs are struggling to open up QPR. There are no easy games in this league that is for sure.

  6. Hi all,

Just waking up here stateside (and with the fughging flu to boot) and trying to get a sense of what’s going on. I saw this on the Northern Echo and thought it adds some perspective on the Colo story:

    http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/10158490._/?

That way they risk relying on an unhappy (key) player, who has already been struggling to hit top gear during his off-the-field problems.

Or do they cut free. Bow to Coloccini’s request to return home, wave goodbye to a potential transfer fee but then use his £60,000-a-week wages to try to bring in one or two replacements.

But how do you replace someone like Coloccini on the cheap? £3m-a-year will be saved on the remaining term of his contract, so that could be used to boost a transfer kitty to buy an alternative.

  11. Looks alright on paper. Lets hope the lads will put their hearts out.

I also hope that Debuchy will have a good game. People will call him **** if he does not today. 🙄

  12. Looking forward to watching Debuchy today, hope the Dogs got plenty of bite ,gonna need it ,to get owt. Would be ecstatic with a win ,pleased with a point even ,in fact it would be a minor miracle given the past few days events 🙄 .Notice Colo plays today ,hope his head is right 😉

  13. Marv is going to be key today, I just cant see Jonas or Obertan creating many chances for cisse today. Would take a point now. But been the ever optimist I am will say 2-1, cisse and cabaye off the bench with an 84 min winner 🙂

  14. Result (11am KO):
    Newcastle U18s 3 Manchester City U18s 2

Newcastle’s U18s beat Manchester City’s youngsters at Little Benton thanks to goals from Greg Olley, Adam Campbell and Jonathyn Quinn but the bad news is that central defender, Remie Streete went off injured – nobody was near him when he broke down.

Substitute Quinn scored in the 89th minute after Olley had scored in the seventh minute and Campbell had got our second after 23 minutes.

  15. I don’t know what to expect here. Norwich can’t have lost 4 on the bounce for nothing though. They have to try and give in an Arsenal/Man U type effort, because if they do maybe this is winnable.

  16. Hi lads, work offshore so dont get to a lot of games but still an ardant fan.
I think if you look at it apart from taylor and benny we have got a fair squad out today,if we can play like we did against manure or arsenal we could steal this.
Think the unwashed have a chance today so need the points.
    Keep the faith

  24. Cisse can have no excuses today. He is the main man upfront.
Time to show us all what we have been missing.
The flipside of course is that it will hi-lite Pardwho’s cluelessness playing him on the right wing constantly and submitting to Ba’s demands.
4-2-3-1 formation looks good, so ‘lets be having you’ 😛

  25. Well we have our backs against the walls ,we will see today which of our players are men and which are boys . We are playing a team that have lost 4 on the bounce if our boys are not up for this one ,then its curtains for us in the premiership . NOW OR NEVER HWTL

  26. BB if he gets no balls played to him well theres not much he can do as I can’t see Oba and Jonas supplying much so we’ll need to count on Marv

      (Quote)

  27. Big Dave – I think you may be surprised. Those two plus Marv and Cisse have been working on it all week. Maybe we shouldn’t pre judge so easily. 😳
    Howay the Lads
