Game On! Norwich v Newcastle

Canaries v Magpies
Canaries v Magpies
Newcastle take on Norwich this afternoon in what is a battle between two teams that have lost form in recent times.

In fairness Norwich went on a ten game unbeaten streak prior to their poor run, a luxury that hasn’t been afforded to Newcastle United this season.

I was going to write a match preview for the game, as I usually do, but my alarm clock either didn’t go off or didn’t wake me up so unfortuntely I haven’t had the time to do so. In a brief kind of preview though we are awful at Norwich generally, we’ve been awful all season and the stats don;t look pretty. That just about covers it really…

Dominating the build up to the game has been the stroy regarding the future of Fabricio Coloccini. Personally I think a big indication will be his inclusion, or exclusion, from the team today. I reckon if he plays then things may be getting blown out of proportion but if he doesn’t, what with being fit apparently, then something could be amiss and we may have to wave goodbye to the club captain.

Speaking of team news, it’s looking a little bit better on the injury front as Yohan Cabaye may make an appearance at some point today, Papiss Cisse will play and there should be a debut for Mathieu Debuchy after his signing from Lille just over a week ago. You can of course see full team news below as and when it becomes available.

Being a Saturday 3pm kick-off means that unfortunately we aen’t being broadcast here in the UK. However a rake of overseas channels are showing the game so hopefully a stream will be available. Normal rules apply, those being that if you happen to find a decent stream don’t be shy and share it amongst your fellow NUFC fans.

Which just about wraps it up. Will Newcastle manage to secure a first away win of the season or will we be faced with more travelling woes come full-time? We shall soon find out…

Howay the lads!

  1. Three times in the first minute Norwich gift us opportunities to put a key cross or pass in and we throw it away with pure incompetence on every occasion.

  2. lionspeed… you kidding right.. obviously not been following us this season. wanting is one thing.. what we expect is another… my confidence in our team to put on a match winning performance for a full game is pretty low right now.

  3. WTF Guti,

Watch, he’ll get one decent cross in by the end of the season and all the overly optimistic deluded fans will be saying: “And they say Guti has no final ball.”

Don’t even think Remy has touched the ball either. Another poor signing.

Ba’s been poor as well. Hasnt touhced the ball. Pards better stop pandering to him playing him in the middle

  5. Tbh I think Debuchy is a talented player, but we’re he’s not going to be crazily better than Simpson. Simmo was actually okay. Bit of a luxury signing imo when we are in greater elsewhere on the pitch.

  6. Obertan is looking decent again…

Get Remy in and Ben Arfa on the other side and we look very decent up front provided there are no injuries.

Shocking defending from Williamson… WHO THE F*** WAS HE MARKING!!!!!

  7. Actually thought that Jonas cross after his run was pretty good, if Cisse was on his toes he would have got to it.

  8. Two defending in the box, and Willo runs to defend next to Krul… Its unreal… All he can do is header the ball.

  9. We should be worried about the games tomorrow not fcking Villa – Southampton. Such **** times.

  10. “Hooved long by Williamson with no great accuracy”

Pretty much sums him up. Fecking useless isn’t he…

  11. Another decent set piece from Anita, he has to be above Cabaye now for them. Shame none of our lot actually seem to want to attack the ball in the air

  12. We are just waiting for Norwich to score.
Then we will start playing football
so far utter tripe from both teams.

  13. BB… you suprised by that?? both teams are relegation fodder and void of any creative inspiration at at. long ball is all we know.

  14. Newkie, I think the only way we’ll score from a set piece is if it knocks one of our lot on the head as the stand flat footed.

  15. This might be a silly comment but are we looking dangerous from corners.
I was thinking this morning we should just roll the ball to their keeper and get on with the game instead of going through all the slavver of putting players into the box

  16. Are the Newcastle Shearer’s Bar staff playing a friendly against Delia Smith’s kitchen staff? Because I think they should be capable of better football than this…

  17. Our play is just so lagged and slow. No neat triangles, no quick football. It’s just pure ****.
Colo would be class in midfield.

  18. Look at the movement into the box! Its PATHETIC. Cisse is the only Newcastle shirt in the box with six Norwich defenders! Not one of the midfield have bothered to make a run or get forward.

    Hopeless panicky amateur football.

  19. One thing is for sure. If we are relying on Cisse to score the goals to win us points then we are surely going down
