Game On! Cardiff v Newcastle

Game On at Cardiff
Game On at Cardiff
Welcome one and all to this ‘Game On’ article which today will take us through every twist and turn of our trip to Cardiff City.

This has been branded a “must win” game by players like Vurnon Anita who stresses how important it is for the “real” United to turn up this afternoon.

However Cardiff will make it hard for us. We always seem to struggle against newly promoted teams and the Welsh side are determined to stay in the league which of course means that they must rack up points, especially at home in front of their own fans. Only Tottenham have won there this season, and they just managed it, so that will give you an idea how tough Cardiff can make it for us.

The match preview was posted online yesterday and can be viewed by clicking the link at the bottom of this article. It’s full of stats, facts, injury news and a brief history of the fixture so is worth a read if you haven’t already had a peek at it.

Team news will be added in fully below as and when it becomes available so keep your eyes peeled for that, but also I’d like you to keep your eyes peeled for a stream of the game. It’s a 3pm kick-off which means that live TV broadcast here in the UK is out of the question here in blighty, but it is being shown overseas so picking up a stream should be fine. As I’ve said though, if you do find one then post the link in the ‘comments’ section below.

I think I’ve just about covered everything so now it’s up to the players to do the rest. Hopefully they can play for a whole 90 minutes, not just 45, and that’s if they show up at all. With games coming up against Sunderland, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea thought, the need for points today is great indeed!

Howay the lads!

  2. Well if Pardew can´t see players just allowing there opponents to stroll past them without tracking back, then the bloke is a as blind as a bat. We have no footballers in the team. Its only a matter of time before Santone is given a rest surely ?

  5. Good performance, Pardew got just about everything right.

    Great result.

Remy, Cabaye and Colo were a different class today.

Cisse and Tiote worked their socks off too. Impresses with both today.
I didn’t know Cisse was capable of such decent aerial and hold up play. He may not have scored again. But if he can contribute like he did today and others are getting goals. He is still doing his part.
    Then the goals will come.

  6. Actually forgot about Willo. You can add him to Cisse and Tiote. Worked his socks off. Won every ball in the air and made his fair share of blocks.

Pardew found his balls today. Let’s hope he can keep it up.

  7. JJ – Cisse needs to get that ball in the net too tho.
That is what he is payed to do.
He looks fucking **** when it comes to getting a shot away.
The rest of his game is ok.
    I don’t know.

  9. Cisse’s all round play was an improvement on the norm, but he still should have grabbed himself a goal for me. Still if Remy is injured he is a guaranteed start. It’s Sissoko who worries me, he still doesn’t seem to put a shift in as much as Cabs or Tiote and when he runs he reminds me of Obertan. Is he really a starter over Anita?

Williamson absolutely ate up the long ball, made the defence look respectable again.

  10. There was one occasion where in the space of 30 seconds. Santon, Tiote and Sissoko gave the ball away and Colo won it back every time. Rock.

  11. Willo was at early fault for their goal, should have dealt with that bouncing ball on the wing.. still wrapped tho 🙂

  12. After the international break.

Tough run of fixtures. 😥 😥

    Liverpool
Sunderland(same time again last season without manager, potentially new manager effect)
    Man City(league cup)
    Chelsea
    Tottenham Hotspur

  13. BB…Aye he desperately needs to get a scoring run going like.

Whey time for a swim before the scum game 😎 …enjoy the 3 points people 😉

  14. Completely dominated the first half but cardiff mostly dominated the second half.

Credit to pardew for getting the players in the right frame of mind. Cabaye looked almost back to his best in the first half.

Another hot and cold performance papering over the cracks. Pardew got the players motivated & the players showed some of their ability.

No style or system in place. Pardew & the coaches need to go.

Overall we beat an average performing cardiff with a barely decent performance.

  15. Kim, I’ll be careful, i have troy in my pocket and i don’t want him getting squashed 😛

  16. Great 3 points much needed.

Though i am slightly worried that we still only put in another half game performance. It has been going on for so long now and still has not been addressed.

Remy motm but Cabaye ran him close.

I think Williamson was very good today though he still has the clumsy streak about him evident as he was at fault for their goal, which in turn totally changed the game in their favor. Though we won the game so i guess it doesn’t matter to much.

  18. Good game and remy played exceptionally well so did Cabaye I have to say.

Cisse, sorry but is just too weak when tussling for the ball and should not expect the ball should be put on the line for him with a 5 meter head start on the keeper and defence to tap in because that is not going to happen.

needs to be looking for the ball as Remy does and making his own goals.

  19. Good win and a very important one. A very good first half dominated by Remy and Cabaye but not as convincing in the second half. A must win though considering what’s ahead. A relief to see us play well in that first half. Cisse still looks lost to me and doesn’t really fit into the team’s attacking style. He’s still trying though.

  20. Kim enjoy the top 10 for an hour or so.
manure will dump us back down to 11th later 😉
