Game On! West Ham v Newcastle

Game On at Upton Park
Game On at Upton Park
Good afternoon and welcome to this ‘Game On’ article which will take us through our game with West ham today.

Our recent results have not been great but neither have those of our opponents today. They do however have the luxury of tasting victory in 2014 which is something still awaiting the Magpies.

Newcastle have all the tools needed to win this game today but once again it depends on which side turns up for us today. Will it be the side which done so well and was perhaps unfortunately beaten by Manchester City last weekend? Or will it be the side lacking in ideas that we saw against West Brom and Cardiff? We’ll soon see I guess…

For more background on the match why not check out the match preview? It features news of injury and suspension for both sides, a history of the fixture and some stats and facts to tickle your footballing taste buds. Official team news will be posted at the bottom of this article after 2pm.

Being a regulation 3pm kick-off means that there is no live TV coverage here in the UK although there are some overseas channels showing the game so hopefully a stream can be found for you all somewhere. If you do find one then please share it by leaving a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

And that is just about it. Sorry it’s a short one. I had to write it quickly before I set off for work this morning. Then again the bulk of the story is waiting to be written. The question is, will this particular story have a happy ending?

Howay the lads!

  1. @lee_ryder: Interesting quotes from Remy Cabella father and agent saying he will joing #nufc “this winter”

  2. I’m sorry but I really don’t see the point in keeping the same team that’s lost 3 league games in the bounce. Shouldn’t we be freshening it up?

  3. The Alien is on the bench. What hold does he have over Pardew, cannot be a footballing reason.
Marveux fans on here will be gutted but he is no better.

  4. Toby@20 ,I think he has a problem admitting he got it wrong bringing Oba in, there can be no other explanation imo.

    Not impressed is an understatement!

WTF do we need to have 2 left backs on the bench & 1 left back on the pitch?

Or 2 strikers on the bench if only one of them has any chance of coming on??

As for Obertan, he lacks confidence so i won’t be too harsh. However he is supposed to be a winger yet he only manages to create 1 chance every 74mins!

    That’s 1 chance a game from a winger!!

I hope Marv leaves us if Pardew doesn’t want to play him. What a waste.

Keeping the same team isn’t a bad decision. They played well vs Man City s a lot of them deserve to start. You’re right though, it would have been better to freshen the team up to creat competition.

Calling him an alien is a bit harsh. I think Obertan was one of Pardews signings when he was still friends with Ferguson. If he turns into a flop it won’t reflect too well.

Marveaux is better than Obertan though. Nt quite sure why you would think otherwise?

  7. I still think Obertan can become a good player but just not here, perhaps in spain at a club where the fans don’t have an expectation of him.

  8. KK, He was that’s why he plays him over Marv probably, Don’t think he wants to admit his judgement is off.

That probably makes sense but it’s a difficult position for Obertan to be in.

    @Bigdave
I think fans being negative about Obertan is not helpful for his confidence. Some players can deal with it & won’t go hiding but Obertan is not one of those players.

I also think he moved to Man Utd to early in his career. He need’s to go to an ‘easier’ league at a lower level club for him to save his career.

  11. Cabaye scores. This is the player some on here can be replaced by either Marveux or Anita. Dreamers

      (Quote)

  12. Easy there Toby, it wasn’t a individual goal from Cabaye. Gouffran played a big part in it & so far Anita has also done very well

  13. Get this game put to bed as they just cannot be that bad in the second half!

2-0 a strange score line and a goal for the home side will change everything. They’re that ***** we should just completely go for their throat!

  14. @stuart79

Yeah, getting that 3rd goal is crucial because otherwise West Ham will come out really aggressive in the 2nd half

  15. That’s fucking typical ,fucking joke ,if we contrive to draw or lose this game I will go nuts. West Ham are total **** we simply have to put this to bed.

  16. What a fucking joke! ***** defending because we’ve had **** all to do.

They’ll have Carroll on at half time and we’ll retreat into our shell like we normally do away from home and we’ll be under pressure all game!

Get HBA in at half time, give them something to think about and I think he’ll destroy them
