Game On! West Ham v Newcastle

Game On at Upton Park
Game On at Upton Park
Good afternoon and welcome to this ‘Game On’ article which will take us through our game with West ham today.

Our recent results have not been great but neither have those of our opponents today. They do however have the luxury of tasting victory in 2014 which is something still awaiting the Magpies.

Newcastle have all the tools needed to win this game today but once again it depends on which side turns up for us today. Will it be the side which done so well and was perhaps unfortunately beaten by Manchester City last weekend? Or will it be the side lacking in ideas that we saw against West Brom and Cardiff? We’ll soon see I guess…

For more background on the match why not check out the match preview? It features news of injury and suspension for both sides, a history of the fixture and some stats and facts to tickle your footballing taste buds. Official team news will be posted at the bottom of this article after 2pm.

Being a regulation 3pm kick-off means that there is no live TV coverage here in the UK although there are some overseas channels showing the game so hopefully a stream can be found for you all somewhere. If you do find one then please share it by leaving a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

And that is just about it. Sorry it’s a short one. I had to write it quickly before I set off for work this morning. Then again the bulk of the story is waiting to be written. The question is, will this particular story have a happy ending?

Howay the lads!

  1. Not sure why STaylor just stood there with his arms in the air?

It was a pretty even game until we got the second goal. After that we got better going forward & West Ham got worse.

All half though we’ve looked vulnerable at the back. Perhaps that’s to be expected with no Debuchy & Colo but maybe we would have done better with Mbiwa in the centre? Maybe or maybe not.

  2. They scored 2 of their 3 shots on target against Cardiff. I don’t think they will get that lucky this time, we’ve been all over them. Just keep the positivity up Parsnip and we will score again. We have a bench as well. Big Sam looked like he was shitting himself before that goal. 😈

  3. Stuart ,Totally agree, If Pards goes defensive 2nd half then I despair mate . They are hopeless and we should go for the throat 2nd half. I really wanted a 3rd really ,now it’s just the one goal in it anything could happen 👿 . Fat Sam will throw on Carroll and go for it and knowing us we’ll collapse.

I think alot of these defensive managers don’t actually have good defensive tactics. The just play defensively because they hate losing more than they love winning.

  5. I don’t think Pardew will go defensive.

It’s very obvious West Ham will leak goals if we pressure them.

Only a stupid manager will go defensive now & whilst i’m no fan of Pardew, i don’t think he is stupid.

  6. Mr ’20 goals a season’ is not a patch on Remy by the way, 😉 and I doubt he has the hold up game of De Jong either, which is essential at Newcastle. 😀 But he is worth twice as much as De Jong apparently, at 28 when De Jong is 23 because he is a good finisher, apparently. 18 months ago. ❗ But what do I know, I must be a numpty.

That was actually a pearl of wisdom. You have the occasional one mixed in with lots of indifferent stuff. 🙂

  8. totally cruising, making fools of their defence… one stupid bit of defending and this game could turn out ****.

Pardew will surely go defensively as some have already said. Carroll on along with a **** C Cole will cause us problems.

not blaming Pardew like as first half was great apart from their goal

Yeah i agree, Mbwia has looked off but i assumed that was because he was playing as a full back.

Our good run coincided with Mbiwa & Williamson alongside each other. I think that is a better partnership than Colo & Williamson.

I’d have preferred Santon at right back with STaylor on the bench but in any case it shouldn’t matter. We should still score more than them regardless of who plays in defence

  10. We should win this comfortably but with Steven suicide taylor about who can say? Could easily be 3 up already and should be a clean sheet as well ffs.

You also have some good pearls of wisdom 😉

    @newkie
I think STaylor has been ok, not great but in any case we should score more than they do so i’m not worried about him or the defence.

  12. This has gotten way too tasty, should not have spurned our earlier chances. This is gonna go tits up

  13. Centra Back pairing of taylor & willo is criminal. No surprise willo havin an absolute shocker beside that gobshite.

Standard AP defensive 2nd half performance…And now for the predictable sub of Shola to lump long balls up to him. Playing into their hands. Why not bring on HBA and scare the lives outta their defenders, its not like shola is a goal threat?

  15. Well you didn’t need to be mystic ****** Meg to see this 2nd half performance coming did you?

Oh and the sooner Ameobi leaves the better. He’s just *****.

  16. @stuart79

It could have been different. We could have torn them to pieces in the first half.

    @bigdave
Surely you don’t agree with Anita being replaced by Ameobi? Allardyce would never make such a silly old english hoofball change, would he?

Oh wait…Allardyce took Diamé off Carroll
