Game On! Newcastle v Sunderland

Game On at St James' Park
Game On at St James’ Park
The 150th competitive Tyne-Wear derby is upon us which means that once again bragging rights are up for grabs.

Those rights have been firmly held on Wearside after back-to-back defeats against the Mackems who go looking for a third successive victory over us for the first time in 91 years.

Yet another miserable transfer window will do nothing to lift the pressure on Alan Pardew. His derby results have been poor since that 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light so he needs a result on that basis, but he also needs one to quell the anger that is rising regarding a lack of transfer activity. I’ll go into more detail on that front in the next few days but at this moment this game is the most important thing and should be the focus of everyone connected to either club.

News of injuries and suspensions for both sides, some stats and facts and a background of the fixture can all be found in the match preview for this game which you can view here if you haven’t already done so. For full team news please see the bottom of this article roughly one hour prior to kick-off.

The match isn’t being shown live here in the UK although it scheduled to be broadcast on a wide range of overseas channels so picking up a stream shouldn’t be too difficult for those who aren’t in the fortunate position of being inside the ground. If you do find a stream please share it and leave a link in the ‘comments’ section below.

I haven’t got that usual derby feeling if I’m being honest. Not yet anyway although I’m pretty sure it will kick in at some point before kick-off. I can’t quite put my finger on why I feel that way, I just do. Maybe a game in midweek along with transfer deadline day (also known simply as Friday in these parts) has kind of ruined the build up?

I guess it doesn’t really matter how I feel now, it’s what happens on the pitch that is most important. At the moment they are the form team of the two but as has been said and demonstrated so many times previously, form is irrelevant on the day.

Howay the lads!

  1. 3hourswasted,

Positive optimism? This is Newcastle. The most optimistic thing I can think of is being relegated so we can win games in the Championship again.

  2. jabba does not give two monkeys about Derby’s what is it to him or most games just stay in PL that’s it,but at the end of the day IMO man for man we have better players than scum ime sorry but how the players play is down to pardew on the day they show no guts no passion with very poor tactics that bit is down solely to pardew not JFK or jabba if pardew cannot get players up to the game and at least show some fire in their bellys he should walk,as my old man used to say to me a good craftsman never blames his tools, please if you care about our club stay away from sjp until jabba gets out of our club

  3. All my 43 years of supporting this club i have seen good and bad times ,i remember the Mckeag days and being pissed of at times but i never thought things wont turn around , even when we flogged talents like Gazza ,Waddle and Beardsley we thought fair enough their is another star on their way from the youth set up too replace them . We always had hope of a cup run and thinking at the start of the season maybe this year is our Wembley Cup final year . For the first time ever i can honestly say i believe with the **** we have now running the club their is no hope , he does not want a cup run even that has been took from us . i will always love OUR club but until the supporters stop supporting the club and run it into the ground by not spending a penny we will never see the back of the fat **** . He wants premiership tv money filling his pockets and a finishing place between 7th to 10th so he has no European football but high enough to attract a couple of promising players for around the 2 too 5 million mark that he can flog on in 2-3 years for anything above the 15 million . It has too stop and only the supporters can stop it , maybe its time too stop supporting and then build the club back up once he is gone .

  4. Look at this club like you are overweight and need to lose weight.

Food is a huge reason why you are fat – but you need food to live, you just need to eat right and eat less. This is what Newcastle fans need to do. You need Newcastle, it’s in your blood, but you need to make the choice of having less for the good of the health.

Do not buy season tickets. Do not buy tickets. Do not buy shirts. Do not pay for the website *****. Support them via TV and blogs such as this. Ways you can keep in touch with the club daily without actually funding it.

It is the ONLY way Ashley will get the hint. He has a thick skin, the chants fuel him even more.

  5. @DJG – 349
‘Why blame Pardew’ – Because the ENTIRE TEAM was rubbish. The buck stops with the manager.

Our performance on the pitch is not down to Kinnear or Ashley, it’s down to Pardew. He had better players but was once again lost to Poyet. A totally deserved loss.

    @SOLANOSTRUMPET – 353
‘Utter **** from everyone concerned but it doesn’t change that Pardew is the man for the job.’.

How can you still believe Padew is the man for the job!

If the job is getting screwed over by Poyet then yeah, Pardew is the guy. He’s been here THREE YEARS & we’re going back to basics!

Nobody else has had as long as Pardew tomake their mark. It’s not even as though we were up against a better team.

Sunderland have rubbish players compared to us but they still outclassed us.

Some peolle just can’t see that we’re going nowhere under Pardew. 🙄

  6. I don’t usually agree with bigdave but 100% it needs to get worse before it gets better.

    Bring on Kinnear!

Lets get rid of both Pardew & Kinnear before the end of the season.

      (Quote)

  7. always thought KK/TROY was don’t blame pardew crewwho could we get that’s better, change of tack is it now????

      (Quote)

  8. The Cabaye sale was a good deal.

We’re not a one man team. Football is a team game. If Cabaye was injured would we be blaming Kinnear & Ashley?

We have enough midfielders at the club.

We lost today because poyet outsmarted us. Not for the 1st time, 2nd time, 3rd time but 4th time!

4 times the same manager has beaten us with inferior players. It’s not even a worldclass manager!!

The players didn’t do it on the pitch. They’re capable but they didn’t produce.

Pardew didn’t do it off the pitch. He’s incapable as we’ve seen against Poyet more than once.

      (Quote)

  9. @ICEDOG

Lol! Change of tack? I’ve been calling for Pardew to be replaced more so than anyone else.

Troy on the other hand is a WUM. Aussie is his wingman.

Solonastrumpet & brisvegas are Pardew fanboys.

Newkie is too scared of Kinnear to want Pardew to be sacked.

      (Quote)

  10. The reality is that Pardew will just use the Cabaye excuse to carry him through to the summer.

We’ll sign a few players & others will leave.

He’ll then ask for more time because the new players our settling in. That’s next season ruined too.

We need a change now & there are plenty of good realistic alternatives.

  11. BB@385 always like to hear his crack, its like I say as well fans stay away from sjp its the only way to shift jabba out of our club

      (Quote)

  12. have we EVER lost 4 derby matches on the bounce ?
Does anyone at the club give a **** either way ?
I think the penny is finally starting to drop with more and more fans.
what’s the point of supporting this **** regime any longer ?
Not turning up isn’t being fickle, or dis loyal, its making a statement, that WILL be picked up by the media. Make no mistake.
We don’t deserve this **** anymore.
Make a stand and keep away.
Short term pain for long term gain. imho.

      (Quote)

  13. When will folk on here accept that the FOOL is part of the regime.

He is as bad if not worse than Ashley and Kinnear.

      (Quote)

  14. KK what a load of **** I dont know anyone that wants Pards for the next 8 yrs. But while Jabba is here I would prefer Pards over JFK any day.
The only hope I cling to is that Jabba starts running the club right ( which I very much doubt )or else he sells us to someone that has some ambition.
You try to say that Pards is the main problem andthat Jabba isnt doing that bad , but its Jabba that wont get the right people to run the club which in my eyes makes him a **** owner.

      (Quote)

  15. @390/391 bloody spot on,but when will fans do owt that’s the problem,I gave my season ticket up a few seasons ago because of jabba after many many yrs of having one, cannot do owt on your own but was just my own protest.

      (Quote)

  16. DAVE I know what your saying but its down to pardew how the team play not anyone else and he cannot get them up to play he’s not a lot of good, pardew, jabba, JFK are one and the same mate

      (Quote)

  17. TGS I think most people know that Pards is part of the regime.

Ice I have been saying it for years until enough people make a stand things will just keep ticking over as they have been. But too many fans are happy to just accept the scraps that Jabba throws them

      (Quote)

  18. The FOOL has no integrity, he is a charlatan who lies and bluffs his way.

There is no way that Ashley will get rid of him, he does as he is told and tows the party line..
Stop going to the home games and do not renew season tickets is the only way Ashley will leave!

How many are prepared to do it is the question.

As long as Ashley is MAKING money out of the club, he and his cohorts will remain and take the ****.

      (Quote)

  19. Ice – I gave mine up finally last season. I am also no longer a club member.
I have been to a few league and cup matches this season, with my son, but that’s the finish now.
    enough is enough

  20. @bigdave

Yeah it’s Mike Ashley’s fault for keeping Pardew & hiring Kinnear. The guy is to stupid & knows too little about football to hire the right people.

We’re lucky that he somehow hired Graham Carr otherwise we would have been relegated.

Your problem is that you’re paralysed by the thought of JFK taking over. You’re not alone, a few others also think the same as you.

‘But while Jabba is here I would prefer Pards over JFK any day.’ –

Jabba is going to be here longer than Pardew & Kinnear. If Pardew is not sacked by Jabba he will be he will be here until 2020.

Kinnear is past the age of retirement. He won’t be here for another 8 years even if he wanted to. If he became manager he would be hounded out of the club by the fans & the vicious media who hate him as much as we do.

The job is too dangerous & bad for his health.

Pardew on the other hand will just take the pressure. He won’t ever get a job as big as the one he has now. He’ll roll his sleeves up & work hard but he just doesn’t have the skills, knowledge or experience to take the club forward.

Changing manager is easier than changing owner.

I’d rather we sack Pardew now, hire Kinnear, hound him out of the club before the summer & then get a manager recommended by Carr.

Hopefully then we’ll get the best out of the players.

      (Quote)

  21. theyre all to blame. Pardew is average but is happy to manage us, he’ll not get a better chance at managing a big club like Ncle. Mike knows this and keep delivering body blows which Pards happily accepts and JFK is Mikes lapdog making him money by selling Pardews team.

As long as the fans keep turning up we’ll stay on this round-a-bout until Mike decides he’s had enough..

      (Quote)

  22. Ice I know , but if you had a choice between Pards or JFK and all the **** that would come with him who would you pick ? As I know who I would pick,
For me it always comes back to Jabba who is not running the club properly simple because he doesnt give a fuk aslong as we stay in the prem and he still has 40 – 50 thousand fans turning up

      (Quote)

  23. deadline day to give notice to cancel season tickets was yesterday.
but some people have still been buying half season tickets.

      (Quote)

  24. Sacking Pardew with the risk that Kinnear takes over is short term pain ; long term gain.

Keeping Pardew will keep Kinnear at the club too. It just prolongs the rubbish we have to deal with.

      (Quote)

  25. @KK why would Ashley listen to Carr when choosing a manger?

Mike will choose the manager that will accept bullshit like Pardew. No decent manager in their right mind will work for Mike and if they do they’ll be reduced to tatters by the contempt mike shows to everyone involved.

      (Quote)

  26. biggest crowd of the season 2day. 13hrs after the transfer deadline.

I think it will be hard to keep fans away…

      (Quote)

  27. KK I would rather the fans hounded the fuking lot of them out, but as I said too many fans are just happy to accept the scraps from jabba’s table.

      (Quote)

  28. @bigdave

It’s not a case of Pardew OR Kinnear. Both of them should be sacked.

Pardew is the manager now. Let’s call for him to be sacked now.

If Kinnear becomes manager, we’ll call for him to be sacked then. He won’t last as long as Pardew.

      (Quote)

  29. I’m convinced jokey would take over from pardew on a temporary basis, but no way he could handle the flak permanently.
Ashley would have to find another mug in the long term.
unfortunately there will be plenty Q’ing up for their shot at the big time.

      (Quote)

  30. Another manager i.e. Poyet would actually do better with our squad (imo) with a different style of football but the funds available wouldnt actually get us any further up the table. We’d still aim for 10th whoever’s in charge.

Even if we reached 5th Mike would take this as an over-achievement and sell a player to reduce our position for the next season 😆

      (Quote)

  31. @Mark

    Derek Llambias is gone.

If Pardew goes followed by Kinnear then there is only Graham Carr left that Mike Ashley trusts.

Carr already decides who we sign & has proven to Ashley that he’s good at his job.

It’s not too much of a stretch from recommending players to recommending a manager.

There are a lot of good managers that would put up with Mike Ashley.

Pardew is not unique in being able to take ****.

Mike Ashley is not unique in taking a dump on his managers. There are worse owners that do it to better managers than Pardew.

We’re a big club. So many good managers would take abuse just to manage us.

      (Quote)

  32. Well we can talk about who should go first Pard’s or Kinnear but their is not much point in that . It does not matter who is in those rolls as long as Ashley is here . When he goes the rest will follow simple as Ashley out is all that matters .

  33. 9 pts off 4th spot and we see our best midfielder sold and we employ a new game plan for the rest of the season 😯 🙄

  34. Troy 😯 ❓

plus Troy accused KK of being his Brother and promptly left the blog one night..

Thats just too ****** up if true 😯 kinda weirdly scary…

  36. is Troy B&B? his very own doppelganger? 😯

I know he posts as that Chavy kid and a couple of other characters but if thats tru it takes it to another level 😆

      (Quote)

  37. it can’t be B&B as he has suggested names that could take over from Pards. Something B&B always struggled with. unless hes been googling managers abroad 😆
