Game (already) On! Newcastle v Tottenham

Game On at St James' Park
Game On at St James’ Park
Good evening all, sorry I’m late. I finished work later than scheduled after battling the elements all day.

Still I’m here now and the game is already on so you should be well into the swing of things by now.

In the build up to the match I struggled to get myself up for it, mainly because our season is lacking anything to aim for. I’ve even put on a few live bets to keep myself interested in the football outside of United although now the game is here I’m feeling a bit better about things. Mind you we’ve just gone 1-0 down so here goes hey?

Team news is already out and is detailed below while streams are available so if you haven’t already got one/found one then all you need to do is ask and I’m sure someone will point you in the right direction.

It’s not ideal having nowt to play for but here we are. All we can do is try and rescue some points and see where it takes us between now and the end of the season. As ever, all of your comments are always welcome.

Howay the lads!

  1. I believe we have a big future in a lower division women’s league. They’re a little rough at times but I think we can just about manage it.

  2. I’m excited about the way we’re building up momentum. Was Ash at the game? He must be very excited as well. So much to discuss with all his mate? Who would that be again?

  3. And now it’s a ten day wait until we can put things right, no excuses next game against a truly **** Villa team.

  4. We’ve lost 5 home games in a row, scoring 1 and conceding 12 goals. Flock me, blokes get sacked for less than that…. Look forward to hearing what Pardew has to say about that ****..

The German proverb says the fish stinks from the heed downwards… Ashley and Pardew out… Pardew has lost the group, his team absolutely stinks. I have no sympathy for the bloke, it’s all his doing. Ashley must be looking in and wondering what is happening here…

First time since 1987 that #Nufc have lost 4 consecutive home league matches. This one was an absolute shocker. Season disintegrating.

    you said it George

  6. MM, yep I said that earlier, the bloke has to go now , I have really had enough, that was awful tonight, no luck against them tonight like we had at their place.

  7. I think I understand our strategy now (Pardew’s that is). First we attack with reckless abandon. Then after the other side scores, we fall back and defend poorly. Very, very interesting.

  8. Didn’t see much of the game, but I saw the bit in the last 15 where Cisse just kicked the ball weakly in the direction of a toon player, then looked and shrugged as if to say…well. To be honest, if I had of been playing I might have lamped him one there and then…

  9. @225, …”Cisse can’t finish his dinner”
Fatboy won’t even let them eat their own bait man. Cisse’s been sent home twice in the last month tivis mutha for a dodgy packed lunch.
Feed him goat and he will score.

  10. G2@233, that’s a genius stroke mate. We know we have no strikers and a pish defence so… hey ho, let’s take the game to them

  11. 🙁 I’m not sure that I can say I’m disappointed with this season, considering that JFK was at the club. We should limp through to finish on the right side of half-way. No predictions for the summer transfer window, but it can hardly be worse than the last two.

      (Quote)

  12. Can it get any worse?

That’s as bad as I’ve seen for a long, long time – especially at home.

Revolt is in there air. I for one won’t be going against Villa. That decision was made at 0-3 by the way. Time to make a stand. Empty seats will hurt the big fat ****!!!

  13. The Pardew method could clearly lead to some record scores against us. It’s all so exciting to watch an Ashley run team isn’t it?

Hate is in the air every sight and every sound
And I don’t know if I’m being foolish
    I don’t know if I’m being wise
But it’s something that I must believe in
And it’s there when I look in his eyes.
    Beautiful.

  18. Sorry, I’m getting a call from the other side. 😯 😕 😕 😯 I must leave you all now.
Take care of yourselves, and each other. 😎

  19. Mark @ 241 – last winter showed that Ashley will open his wallet when the club takes a nosedive. Last two windows didn’t see any spending because he calculated that we had enough to get by. Not defending the man – I’m frustrated by the “ambition” to be a mid-table club 👿 – just observing his pattern of behaviour.

  20. I’m done Ice. Tired actually of this ill feeling. Got the feeling all the other fans felt the same. Such a sense of defeat and inevitability.

    No soul left.

  21. Mark@245, thanks for reminding me how much of a **** Chief Sneezing Horse is. 😆
    I feel normal again. 😎

  22. There was a ‘Time4change’ or at least I think it was, might have been ‘Ashley out’ though protest at the Strawberry at half six I think. Few fans shouting abuse at Pardew at the end though on their way out.

    There’s trouble brewing though…

  23. I dug a hole & crawled into if a few days ago.

I’ve only just crawled back out.

    I haven’t read any comments, i missed the match completely (unintentional) & i haven’t heard Pardew’s comments.

However based on Pardew’s lineup, it looks like we play typical 442.

No real problem with that if you’re in the lower divisions or if you’re still stuck in the 1990’s & earls 2000’s.

    We’re not.

If Sissoko & Anita were played in the middle (i don’t know if that’s what happened), where the f*ck is the creativity going to come from?

Unless you have some epic midfield players of the Yaya type, we’re not going to create any chances through the middle.

Presumably the plan was to whip balls into the box, De Jong to flick it on & Cisse to score?

I guess it might work but….how many crossses did Man Utd send into the box the other day?

It’s such an easy thing to defend against unless you’re up against Drogba or Lukaku. Even then it’s pretty straightforward.

I might have just said a load of rubbish (i’ve never said rubbish before) & we might have played brilliantly but lost out to some scrappy & unlucky goals.

If that’s the case then i’ll crawl back into my hole.

    Otherwise….PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!PARDEW OUT!

  25. KK you summed it up perfectly . You was right i was wrong , this performance was so pathetic it was untrue . Ashley and Pardew need to Go ASAP.

      (Quote)

  26. Well, that was **** poor….once again..
Questions need to be asked of Pardew… really bad losses of late.. At the end of the day, it is his job to motivate the players and is not happening. Ashley is the root cause of the problem but come game day, it is all Pardew and the players.. The players are highly paid professionals and they should rise above any distractions once the whistle blows. I am sure we have all gone to work with a personal issue clouding our thoughts and we still have to get on with the job at hand.. Ashley can be blamed for a lack of squad depth but not the gash we are seeing on the park.. The players should have a “no effort-no pay” clause in their contracts.. If the did, several of them would have earnt a cent over the past month..
    rant over..

  27. I would sack Pardew tomorrow if someone offered me a name that could do a better job under these constraints.

  28. I must admit I’m surprised by the lack of calls for Laudrupp. He was all the rage even two or three months ago.

  29. @axel
I thought you & me have been saying the same things for ages 😆

    @newkie
Cabaye was an important player for us but he’s not a Ronaldo or Messi. Even if he was, all teams should be much more resilient to losing an indvidual player – it is a team game afterall.

    @Aussie – 272
I want to say i agree 100% with your post 😯 ….but i can’t bring myself to do it.

We’ll just leave it as though you agree with me 😆

  30. @stuart79
Rene Girard or Phillipe Montanier could do (& would do) a much better job for a lot less money & with the exact same constraints.

      (Quote)

  31. That’s without even talking about managers like Bielsa & Terim who would both like to work in the Premier League & would not turn us down.

With the exception of Spurs & Sherwood, every other top 8 club has a lng term manager in place.

Managing NUFC is a fantastic chance for any manager despite Mike Ashley being the boss.

Most managers in the world would love to manage us. The only ones that wouldn’t are the ones already at a major champions league club.

      (Quote)

  32. KK- 😉 You are very seldom wrong when you agree with what I am saying.. You should bear that in mind with your future posts.. 😛

Newkie, yep, **** poor finishing… I guess that is Ashleys fault as well..

      (Quote)

  33. KK- Do you know Beilsa and Terim personally?? How do you know they would not turn us down, have they said as much to you?
That comment is like when you claimed that Pardew said that Anita was rubbish…. and when you were called out on it, you then claimed that Pardew did kind of say it but not really in those words 😯 😆
Your tomfoolery has put a smile on my face.. good man! 😉

      (Quote)

  34. I think if we got Bielsa we would win a trophy but i highly doubt that we could get him. He is one of the most well thought off respected managers in world football.

Montanier is a lot more viable but i think he could do a job here.

This is all old ground though and it does get a bit tiring flogging the “what if” horse.

I’m sure that Atletico Madrid fans are complaining about much the same thing. 😉

  36. Santii this club would probably benefit from a different manager. I’m not happy with the job Pardew’s done since Cabaye left. I know we have a few injuries and Remy out but it’s not good enough. Cisse missing from 5 yards is an absolute joke. He gets paid well and I expect more from him. Can’t see Ashley sacking him but unless his willing to spend 30 million in the summer and get the best staff then cheap second rate managers is all we will get.

      (Quote)

  37. I think Remy has been the biggest miss… He really seems to give the other players a shot of confidence when they are around him. From the very first game he played, we look a different side with him on the park. To say we desperately need him back is an understatement.

      (Quote)

  38. Aussie I totally agree with you. Remy and Cabaye are the heart and soul of the team. Remy will win us a couple of games when he gets back. We should be safe and then see what happens in the summer.

      (Quote)

  39. Could it be that Ashley is selling up and doesn’t give a **** about the team and only wants them in the league ? His stopped going to home games and doesn’t seem bothered about losing to City, Arsenal, Cardiff, Sunderland, Chelsea, West brom and Spur’s since Stoke.

      (Quote)

  40. yeah, after todays result, I don’t think any one would be really surprised if Pardew was shown the door.. or care for that matter..

    The cunts.

  43. KK – You are making the assumption that they would be happy to manage a club where they have no say over anything at all, they will have no money to spend on the squad, deal in loan players and sell their best player when an acceptable offer comes in.

You also make the assumption that they’ll be better than Pardew when they’ve never managed a team in England. How do you know?

Like I said, if a manager with a proven track record in England would take the job is be happy but there aren’t many around and especially not without and professional pride.

      (Quote)

  44. It’s ok for Pardew to have a go at the players but I got the feeling they’re not too bothered. Personally I think the regime have not only sucked the enthusiasm out of the supporters but also the players.

Who could blame them for thinking what’s the point? They’re professional people and want to have the best chance of winning something in a short career. That won’t happen here.

I would think the better players like Krul, Colo, Remy, Tiote, Sissoko and HBA will all want to move on in the summer. What’s the point in staying!
