Game On! Hull v Newcastle

Game On at the KC Stadium
Game On at the KC Stadium
Good afternoon all and welcome to this ‘Game On’ article which will cover our trip to Hull today.

A last minute win against Aston Villa last time out stopped the rot for United but only time will tell if that victory was a rare bright spot in what has been a poor 2014 or whether we have genuniely turned the corner.

The big team news ahead of the match for Newcastle is that Fabricio Coloccini will miss the game on compassionate grounds after travelling back to Argentina following a family bereavement. For the rest of the early team news check out the match preview and for full team news check the bottom of this article just after 2pm.

The match is not being broadcast live here in the UK due to the regulation kick-off of 3pm although a few overseas broadcasters are showing the game so if you do happen to come across a reliable stream then please leave a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below.

We’ve not beaten Hull since 1998 and they’ve been playing some decent stuff of late although they have struggled in front of their own fans. Although not safe just yet it surely won’t be lomg before Hull can plan for another season in the Premier League. Our job today at least is to make them wait a little longer!

Howay the lads!

  1. **** me! My link to the game is 2 minutes behind Paul Merson on Soccer Saturday. That’s no good like!

    Get in!

  2. what chance of Pardew taking Remy off 2nd half and bringing Cisse on ❓

  3. Flattering scoreline. Don’t think we’ve been that good. But two good goals.

We’ve taken our chances well, they haven’t..

  4. JJ we only created one chance the whole half and scored two goals from what I’ve seen.

Two poor teams if you ask me, and the scoreline flatters us …

  5. BB-I’m sure he’ll make an appearance but think it will be more likely to be De Jong on 60mins. Wouldn’t mind hairdrier getting a run out, maybe at right back if we go 3 up or something

  6. Absolute textbook counter attacking football. I love it

With a two goal lead we are even more dangerous now they need to bring more people out.

I think both our bookings were bullshit and will be dodgy for either Tiote or Mbiwa to do anything rash in the next half.

Tiote has been class with Anita in the middle again.

And just how good was that double save by Krul yet again another moment which is just as important as the goal and im glad to see it got celebrated after the resulting counter attack goal.

  7. well first half we have been a lot better than we have been for a while, I just hope we come out 2nd half and try to improve our GD

  8. Pleased with what I’ve seen so far. Some nice link up up front considering they haven’t played together much yet.
Defensively we look a bit shaky – as usually the case when Colo is out.
Again – as with Cisse, if we know what the situation is in the summer, then the team we play should reflect that.
If Colo is off then Mbiwa and Willo should start every game

  9. …and De Jong is just so lightweight…

But we can only beat what is put in front of us… 😉 😉

  10. Overall we’ve been the better team.

0-2 flatters us but 0-1 or 1-1 would probably be a fairer reflection of the performance of both teams.

The odd thing is i would say both teams have not really tried too much. Some neat passages of play but both teams are capable of stepping it up a few levels.

I think De Jong would be a good permanent signing. He links up well & will be stronger with every game.

Mbiwa is the future captain & heart of our defence. After Colo, Mbiwa is our best centre back, Colo is only better because he has had more experience.

Physically & technically, Mbiwa is better.

  12. STaylor is also very solid with occasional lapses.

I think we should get rid of him because he get’s injured too often

  13. I’m going to challenge Pardew to let the team have a real go in the second half and not just sit back and let them onto us like we seem to do every fucking game!

As I was writing that they just scored. Utterly predictably pathetic!

  14. Game on… they’ve had their chances. This thing ain’t over.

  15. Krul just can’t deal with those kind of balls, he’s a fantastic shot stopper but still has a lot to learn about commanding the area.

  16. KK@98, I couldn’t disagree more mate. De Jong can’t make it in a much weaker Bundesliga, and Mbiwa is a poor defender and a liability.

  17. Not just reacting to that one, but anyone else think that, if a big offer did come in for Krul, we might be best off taking it (not imagining Elliot becoming no 1 keeper)

  18. De Jong is afraid to get his hair wet. I hate that in a central striker, the bloke couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag… 👿 👿

  19. Yeah baby!

We are having a **** defensive day, but our counters against their three back have been sweet.

  20. Man what a pathetic goal from a Hull perspective, absolutely pathetic 😯 😯

    Howay the lads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. The team suddenly came alive after dreadful first two months of 2014. 🙄 😯

  22. what a pity that Timmy chose now to go through a dodgy patch. Hopefully he can still make it to Brazil…

  23. Does anyone else think we may genuinely have a chance of signing Remy ? Look at the way he celebrates his goals, he is absolutely out of it. The sign of a bloke who cares… Or maybe he is on 5 grand a goal 😆 😆

I never watched him before he came to Newcastle, but I actually think de Jong has been pretty decent at holding the ball up and winning headers 😯
