  1. What do you class “tools for the job”? What job? Nobody apart from Lionel and TDS (off memory) have ever said the sqaud is capable of great things. In fact the majority on here are just saying the squad is a **** sight better than 3rd bottom and being in the bottom 6 all season. Unless you’re saying McClaren is doing a good job with what he has and the squad is about where it should be in the league?

David Moyes would get a hell of a lot more out of these players.

  4. So 10th means we are dramatically under achieving and that is the responsibility of the manager. He says the most stupid of things. He says the same thing whether we win, lose or draw. He is talking constant ****! He needs to go!

No, I don’t think our defence is good enough – far from it, but it also shouldn’t be the 3rd worst in the league – which it is! Again that is the coach’s responsibility.

is it really the coachs fault no1 wants to sign them **** cb we got to free up space for some new blood, they were here a long time before him he did not sign them so hows that his fault ?

      (Quote)

  6. He’s not playing them **** cb’s. Colo has performed really recently and Mbemba is a vast improvement on Williamson.

      (Quote)

  7. The point is that we are perfoming worse this season than last and that is down to the coach. He has better players and more players at his disposal than Pardew or Carver ever did.

      (Quote)

  8. STUART79
collos performed well for a few games this season but was proper **** that last match at 1 point he let a dude go past him throw his arms up in the air and stoped did not even get after the dude with the ball 😯

      (Quote)

  9. And, what is your point? The previous managers had to put up with that from Colo but we weren’t this low in the league. They also had Williamson to play too.

      (Quote)

  10. STUART79
you mentioned collo im just telling ya how it is ya also mentioned Mbemba so ya admiting hes improved our defence a little bit

      (Quote)

  11. Colocini is a **** fucking defender. Last season Williamson had better stats than him. This season Mbemba has better stats than Colocini. The only difference last season the fan’s blamed Williamson when actually the weakest link was Colocini. Oh his had a few good games lately, its about fucking time he done something to actually earn his salary I suppose.

      (Quote)

  12. I’d rather have Williamson in defence than Colocini. Drop him. It’s a small improvement but still an improvement.

      (Quote)

  13. TAE – Are you not following this entire debate? I am saying that the team and squad is now better than it was last season. It ain’t going to be top 8 but it certainly shouldn’t be bottom three. It is therefore reasonable to look at the coach and say he is not doing his job so he needs to go!

      (Quote)

  14. Kim – I was more talking about the squad as a whole, every manager has to put up with injuries, and as you mentioned Krul in there I expected to see Cisse. – You’ve kind of contradicted yourself as well by saying we create chances and don’t put them away but saying he didn’t get the service? Unless you just mean we’ve created more chances in the last two games, which we have – but it just shows how poor we’ve been all season in that case.

      (Quote)

  15. Sham@368 – agreed. He looked poor when he came on against Arsenal, which I’d like to take as an indicator that he isn’t playing for his future at Chelsea and knows he is on the way out. Snap him out and we will have enough quality throughout the side to survive.

      (Quote)

  16. So last season with Colo and Williamson in defence we were performing better than we have this season. Mbemba is better than Williamson yet we are still worse at the back. Both this season and last season we had Colo so there’s no advantage to any coach. How is this not the responsibility of the coach?

      (Quote)

  17. TAE agreed I don’t want Colocini anywhere near our defence. Get Williamson back and put him in Colo’s place. McClaren needs to grow some balls and drop him.

      (Quote)

  18. But Stem, this season shows it wouldn’t make any difference whether we had Colo in there or Williamson. They aren’t being coached how to defend probably – that bit is clear.

      (Quote)

  19. Stupid comment syndrome must be catching at NUFC. Dave watson reckons the reason our U 18’s team lost was because “we lacked experience…” No ****!

      (Quote)

  20. Stuart I don’t think Colocini has the fight in him to be our captain for a start. I know Williamson isn’t a great defender but he try’s his hardest even if he is ****. Colocini sometimes try’s but can’t be bothered. The players look at Colo as a role model, example. Is it any wonder we have no fight in the team. McClaren just as gutless for not dropping him.

      (Quote)

  21. Stem – Colo should have been replaced in the summer but McClaren said when he signed his extension that “it was the most important signing of the summer!” He hasn’t got the balls to make any tough decisions and that’s why he has the job to be fair. He’s not up to in in every single dept.

      (Quote)

  22. I’d have Ginola today over Thauvin but I certainly wouldn’t have Goufrran over Gini, Williamson over Mbemba, Ferrerya over Mitro or Abeid over Shelvey.

not many peeps wanted the manager but hes here now and ya cant judge him six months down the line in my opinion, the club aint ganna back him with the amount of money they have, then sack him 6 months in aint ganna happen bud,let him get the players he wants, and time to shift some of the **** we got 1st,the time to judge him will be after the summer window 😉

      (Quote)

  24. if any 1 needs sacking here its mr carr he was the 1 insisted on tharvin and he was surposed to be the player surplying the bullets in the air for the rottweiler to get his nut on 😉

      (Quote)

  25. Sorry, TAE but he has almost no so in the players that have arrived. The club would have signed Gini, Mitro, Mbemba and Thauvion regardless of the who the manager was. So they haven’t backed him in particular. In fact their policy makes it easier for them to sack a manager because the new manager wouldn’t be able to get rid of the new players and bring his own in.

But one question; If you don’t want to judge him in 6 months (even when performing worse than any of his predecessors with a better squad) when do you want to judge him? When he has taken us down or when it’s too late for a new guy to save us?

      (Quote)

  26. Moyes is out of work and is a proven PL manager who has had success (relatively) at his clubs. Hell, even at Man Utd his records doesn’t look too bad compared to LVG and he had nowhere near as much to spend…

      (Quote)

  27. But having said that, anybody would be better than the expert in failure we currently have, even Brendan Rogers…

      (Quote)

  28. TAE I reckon Williamson could be are Superman but we must drop Colocini immediately. That’s not mega buck’s mate. The cheapest alternative like I’m used too ?

      (Quote)

  29. STUART79
after this summers window is the time to judge him, strap on ya life jacket over there 😆 might get a bit bumpy, but i dint want ya geting washed over board my fair weathered friend 😆 trust we will still be a prem team next season 😉

      (Quote)

  30. Stuart when Souness was here I judged him after a season and a half. He did have a lot of injuries even back then.

      (Quote)

  31. TAE The summers fine by me but if he still uses Colocini after the summer i’ll scream and have no hair left lol.

      (Quote)

  32. We lack an adequate left back & a decent finisher (Now Cisses injured/Cant be arsed) but i actually dont think the sides that bad; The real problems for me are Charnley making two **** appointments since we were sat in the top half at the end of 2014, Carr pushing to sign an unneeded winger in Thauvin for £13m instead of desperately needed LB Guerriero for £12m & A coach who has been hit and miss at best and took 2/3 of the season to realise Wijnaldum isnt a left winger…

Im amazed Ashley hasnt spat his dummy out at this shambles after allowing them to spend near £100m of the clubs money in the last two seasons, He got rid of Llambias for less than this ****

      (Quote)

  33. So let me get this clear; If we are still in the bottom three with 8 or 9 games to go with no sign of improvement you would continue to stick with McClaren?

      (Quote)

  34. STUART79
yeah il stick with him meself or would you perfer another carver like appointment ?

      (Quote)

  35. CC I would have stepped in ages ago if I was in Ashley’s shoes. Especially after spending 70 million pounds. To be perfectly honest there’s more t.v coverage in the bottom 3 survival fight but it’s also playing with fire.

      (Quote)

  36. The board have a decision to make.

1 – sack McClaren and bring in a top quality manager in to see what they can do with this lot.

2 – stop fucking about and truly back McClaren by bringing in the players HE wants – regardless of the price.

      (Quote)

  37. I read somewhere we made more t.v coverage money than Spurs last season and they finished 5th. Sky super sunday is massive money. Its also a chance to show off them sports direct boards.

      (Quote)

  38. STUART79
i say that cause that would be likey to happen i dont think a proper manager would come in and have the time to see what they need before the window slams shut

and fatboy aint ganna sack him so we wasteing our breaths talking about it

      (Quote)

  39. When we got relegated in 2009 at this stage of the season we had 26 points, scored 6 more goals and conceded 7 less goals. Doesn’t look too good does it…

      (Quote)

  40. You seem to be hung up on this idea that a new manager would want his own players so he wouldn’t have enough time to get them in. The club chooses the players, not the manager.

      (Quote)

  41. Sharpy – what happens if he brings in the players he wants and still fails, like at Derby? Then the board has the even more expensive need to replace him and all the players he brought in with new players for the new manager.

I know what you’re saying, we as a club should sign the players the manager wants in order to succeed. But I’d get the right guy in first, then look for the players.

      (Quote)

  42. We had a completely and utterly shambolic team. not to mention the managers put in charge were Kinnear and a completely inexperienced Shearer so not even comparable.

      (Quote)

  43. I agree, Newkie. God only knows what Charnley saw in failure specialist McClaren that thought he was worth being given £70m worth of new players.

      (Quote)

  44. We are asking for a proven PL scorer to keep us up – QPR had Austin last season.
We are asking for a change of manager – QPR changed their manager.

McClaren was talking nonsense when he said we controlled the game. But he also said that we lack quality at both ends of the pitch – with that he was absolutely correct.
It’s time to stop fucking about, get the cheque book out and spend what is needed.

      (Quote)

  45. Newkie – Derby are currently 4th in the Championship and the squad of players are pretty much the same as what McClaren had – in fact one of the buys was Ince who Mc had on loan there.

Your comment could be made about ANY manager who comes in – so I take it you are a supporter of the board picking & buying the players?

      (Quote)

  46. Sharpy – Please don’t compare us to QPR. That is a team that is struggling in the Championship so it was never equipped for PL football. They also changed the manager and appointed Chris Ramsey – the QPR equivilent of Carver. I am asking we bring in Moyes – huge difference!

      (Quote)

  47. Sharpy – No I’m not, that’s why I said this

“I know what you’re saying, we as a club should sign the players the manager wants in order to succeed. But I’d get the right guy in first, then look for the players.”

My point is I would actually get the right manager in first and allow him to build the team he wants. Not have a poor manager build his team. With the right investment even a poor manager can survive and build a squad – but that would take levels of investment I just don’t expect of Mike Ashley.

I’m confused by your point about Derby – it backs up what I was saying. He was backed and allowed to build a good squad and he still failed. Clement has come in and looks to be doing about the same job – but will presumably avoid the awful run of form that got Schteve sacked.

      (Quote)

  48. Stu – I rate Moyes as a manager, but the reality is if he has the same players McClaren has there will be no great change.
There hasn’t been at Villa under Garde and there hasn’t been at Sunderland under Fat Sam.
Moyes would could in and select the same back 4 – and we would continue to concede. He’d select Mitrovic with either Perez or Riviere – but how does Moyes control them convert their chances?!.
I don’t see any manager as some kind of miracle worker I’m afraid. We need better players.

      (Quote)

  49. Come on, Sharpy!!! That is just pure lunacy making comments like that. Do you really believe that this squad is only good enough to be 3rd bottom of the league? If you believe that then you must believe that Carver over achieved by a huge amount by keeping us up considering he had about 6 fewer players to choose from.

I am staggered that you think McClaren is doing a good job and you haven’t said that but we can only assume you think that when you say the likes of Moyes couldn’t do any better!

    I’m actually quite staggered.

      (Quote)

  50. Sharpy

I cant believe many managers/Coaches would have looked at our players and thought a wide open 4-4-2 with Gini on the left was the way to go for the 1st half of the season, Moyes certainly wouldnt he was playing 4-2-3-1 before it was in fashion

He would have packed the midfield, Made us harder to play through and we would have conceded less imho

      (Quote)

  51. Newkie – but the right manager is a matter of opinion. Brendan Rodgers went into Liverpool as the man to bring back success and the fans, former players & media loved him – he was given a small fortune and done **** all. Now their squad is to be taken apart and Klopp’ed.

If you are being fair mate, how many of the summer signings would you say were McClarens?. Is he getting to bring in his own players for us?. You seem to think he shouldn’t get to as he should never have been brought in. Don’t get behind him coz he wasn’t wanted.
I keep hearing this Derby thing. Was Moyes a success at Man Utd or in Spain?. Was Rogers a success at Liverpool – please offer me another realistic suitor to McClaren? … Lee Clark maybe 😆

      (Quote)

  52. Oh and again, don’t compare us to two teams that have such far inferior players than our squad it is unbelievable! Sunderland are doing exactly as they have done for the past 3 years and Villa are just a pile of *****.

      (Quote)

  53. <<<<<<<<<<<<< thought before the game we win this this we wont need another striker,so i think that game was pivotal in decideing if we needed a new striker or not on board.

      (Quote)

  54. Stu – I didn’t say McClaren was doing a good job. I said that any never manager coming in would still have the same back 4 conceding goals and the same forwards not scoring.
