  1. Chronicle poll obviously has Benitez as top pick by some way, but then it’s Moyes at 2 followed be Pearson, then De Boer and only then Rogers in 5th place. No doubt well end up with Redknapp…

  2. I’d take Louise Redknapp over Mcclaren any day….I don’t mean in a sexual way, though obviously I would that too! 😯

  4. So McClaren’s meeting with Charnley was cancelled! McClaren far from happy!!!

Even by NUFC standards this is quite astonishing!

Looking like nobody wants the job…

  5. Wtf is going on. How can a bunch of very highly paid professionals be so incompetent on just about every level throughout the club?

      (Quote)

  6. Sham – That’s the thing, these guys aren’t highly paid in football terms and it’s beginning to show.

It really is quite astonishing how badly they’re handling this. They probably do not even realise what they’re doing wrong. It wouldn’t surprise me if they are sat there thinking “what’s the problem here?” Expecting McClaren to continue as normal and have no plans to sack him.
Although I generally think they’re just struggling to agree terms with somebody as they won’t concede any power whatsoever and will pay peanuts.

    What a complete mess!

  7. The only acceptable reason why this meeting hasn’t taken place is if McClaren has told them to stick it up their **** and resigned!

  8. Hells bells the club are trying my patience now, what on earth is going on? How fucking hard can it be to clarify a situation.

  9. It turns out there was no meeting between Charnley and McLaren. They were going to get together to discuss Steve’s next birthday party but the timing was just too suspicious. It’ll have to wait. 😯

  10. What’s happening with Colo’s injury? I heard it was some nasty toe fungus. He’s really keen to get back out there but you can’t be too careful with toe fungus.

  12. This saga shows how incompetent these idiots are. Remember they approached Schteve last year with 3 games to go and then let Ugly John continue. It is deja vu all over again.

      (Quote)

  13. You lot worry too much. Everything has been sorted. Steve will stay on with Carver as his assistant and there will be another quick trip to Spain over the weekend to sort some things out on the pitch. Done and dusted.

  15. It feels to me that the club have already written the Leicester game off. Doesn’t matter whether McClaren is there or not.

It’s actually just so incredibly bad why would anybody take this job? Surely they’ve spoke to each other?

      (Quote)

  16. Just sack him off. He is obviously going, so stop dragging it out. It’s a king us look incompetent to new extremes. Any prospective manager will be looking and thinking who the fook are these clowns?

  17. The longer it goes on the longer it looks like he’s staying to be honest.

Chronicle reporting they did actually speak on the phone but McClaren is still the head coach for now.

  18. Chelsea – capitulation, 3 down after 17 minutes. Schteve even used the word capitulation
    Stoke – didn’t turn up
Bournemouth – we lost to a team that cost 87 pence FFS

  19. Stuart: they got rid of Ugly John in the end after he nearly relegated us. Maybe it is the same scenario playing out again.

  20. haha at no other club in the English league could you see this kind of **** happening.

    what a complete farce

theyre obviously desperate to get rid and get someone quality in but if they don’t, they’ll keep a hold of him.

  24. I’ve got this horrible feeling that we won’t be able to get anybody in and we will be left with McClaren. If it wasn’t bad enough before what the hell will it be like now?

I mean seriously, man! They have literally more or less told him they’re looking to replace him and to stay until they do. YCMIU!

  25. From the website Foootball365 3 hours ago:

“Steve McClaren remains Newcastle manager despite widespread reports he would be sacked on Tuesday.

McClaren ‘demanded face-to-face talks’ at which he was expected to be sacked by United’s managing director Lee Charnley on Tuesday, according to the Daily Telegraph.

But the Newcastle Chronicle and the Daily Mirror both report that the meeting was not held, and that McClaren only spoke to Charnley over the phone.

However, the Daily Mail claim the meeting failed to go ahead as McClaren instead opted to drive home due to his unhappiness at his treatment from the club.

McClaren held training as usual on Tuesday ahead of the club’s Premier League clash with leaders Leicester next Monday, where United will look to win only their third game of the calendar year. The Magpies are currently 19th, one point from safety.

The club were said to have taken the decision to sack McClaren in the immediate aftermath of Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth but have not conveyed that decision to their manager, who has reportedly had his telephone calls to board members ignored this week.

Newcastle are clearly delaying an official announcement until they have a replacement, with Rafa Benitez and David Moyes said to be interested.

The Telegraph claim that Benitez would take the job on a short-term basis as the Champions League-winning manager does not want to work in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Moyes would only take the job if he were allowed more control to manage the club rather than just coach the team.

The delay means that McClaren has had to request his own meeting to learn his fate as Newcastle coach.”

  27. This is so comical that it is almost beyond NUFC funny. McClaren had to request a meeting to find out if he was being sacked and then the meeting was cancelled 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  28. So many storeys going round ! One reason meting was called off toon were told by Rafa would take job hence a meeting,Rafa then said he wanted the job long term and gave his terms,so meeting called off while Penfold speaks by phone to jabba hence imo Rafa won’t be coming, this is becoming a bloody soap opera fit for a run on tv

Lee: “well Steve I’ve been talking with some of the board and we’ve decided not to have a birthday party for you this year.”
Steve: “Lee mate if that’s the way you lot feel then I’ll have to put up with it won’t I?”
Lee: “yes you will Steve. And oh by the way, we’re not happy with 19th place. Your birthday party for next year is in jeopardy as well.” Click.

  31. By Raga do you mean Rafa Shammy mate? I think he would be grand but really what are our chances? He’s a sensible man with real football brains. Would he want to spend time listening to Charnley prattle on?

  32. surely McClown has a case of constructive dismisal against NUFC after all this ridiculous carry on.
He would be well within his rights to walk out and leave the regime in the lurch.
Thoroughly disgraceful way to treat anyone.
Typical of the way Jabba goes on with everyone.

  33. G2 without a doubt mate, worked more on a shoestring than Rafa, plus he’s more likely to kick ***,where as Rafa tends to just ignore you if it’s not his way going from his past record many Real/M players just would not preform for him hence got the boot, that’s the trouble we have at toon players at the moment,do we need more of it??

      (Quote)

  34. If we got Rafa it would mean a change in policy. That’s if he was on a long term deal. It would be huge for us. Rafa would command the respect of the squad. He has won everything. By far the best choice but will be a huge ask to get him on anything other than a short term deal.

  35. You could be right icedog mate. I hope we really are getting to pick and choose who we want.

  37. SHAM my worry with Rafa is every job he’s had he has walked into a club with top players to work with never had to struggle getting clubs to spend big money
in Moyes case he’s worked wonders in the lower lges,at Everton he worked with players near the bottom of the PL and did well on a strick budget,it’s a no brained for me

      (Quote)

  38. Sham, because of the reasons you give I doubt we will get him. We hear he’s interested in the gig, but I reckon that would change when he met these clowns and heard their way and structure.

I am in no doubt his appointment would keep us up. It just makes it more ridiculous and outrageous that we are cocking about and not offering the guy exactly what he wants.
