  1. “I think it was Kane who was offside”

Oh the player two yards ahead of play, not the one who passed the ball, Thanks for clearing that up Clive

  5. No way Sterling should be in this team how he got picked in front of Townsend defeats me people say what a great striker Kane is he’s alright with balls played in front of him but he cannot play with his back to goal and he cannot for the life of him hold a ball up and bring people into play

  6. Woy picks Townsend when he didn’t deserve a call up & drops him when he absolutely does in favour of bog standard plodders like Jardun Henderthun, Milner, Lalana

Plan b will be hoy a load of strikers on & still have absolutely no one to supply them

  11. I was watching the earlier games today & Henry hit on a good point. He was saying he hoped England get distracted by trying to accommodate Rooney in midfield.
I’m not saying we did tonight, but he was pretty non existent in there for most part. But then Joe Hart barely made a save either.
If Lallana & Sterling are part of our strongest 11 we are screwed.

  12. I thought Rooney was pretty good. In fact I thought we played really well and if we had taken our chances we’d have been talking about a different game. Obviously we didn’t so it’s kind of irrelevant but if we play like that for the next couple of games we will win the group and progress. In fact it’s almost impossible not to progress. We’d probably do it with three draws.

  14. I actually thought Rooney played well, I think the team was right apart from the two wide players.

Townsend should have been one side & Vardy on the other where Leicester have played him numerous times to good effect.

Sterling is completely out of form & Lallana, Henderson, Milner aren’t international players.

Two many midfield plodders & not enough game changers

Yeah we are no angels but what the Russian fans did in the stadium was awful, there were kids in that section getting hit and stamped on. It’s easy to say don’t fight back but at the same time how can you not? Not enough police in the stadium and apparently standing back when Russian ultras attacked random England fans outside! We can see how the Russian WC is gonna pan out though can’t we.

There’s quite a few England players not the class needed,Sterling I wouldn’t be happy if he was a toon player never mind England couldn’t tie Townsend shoe laces and Ime sorry but Kane can only play one way running on to balls and facing the goal,he cannot hold a ball up or play with his back to goal,he has to work a lot harder on that to have any chance to be a top top striker

Lallana & Sterling are not forwards. They aren’t wing forwards even & if they are seen as much then their goals & assists stats suggest they aren’t good ones.
Regardless who it’s against, Rooney is England’s record goal scorer & could have supported Kane far better than Lallana or Sterling.
We dominated that game last night but didn’t have the quality up front to convert the chances – and with the likes of Vardy, Sturridge & Rashford on the bench, that’s wrong.

Steve McClaren has nobody to blame but himself. He went in thinking he was the new man about town, thinking he was some kind of big shot. The board had waited for him, they gave him his own backroom staff & he thought he had made it – finally a PL manager at one of the biggest clubs.
He went in wanting to be everyone’s mate – as he did at England. You can’t do that if you want management & leadership.

He’s on about the recruitment of CBs & CFs. Maybe he didn’t have much say over the summer signings – but where were the CBs or CFs in the Jan window when he was signing Saivet & Shelvey?!.
The other thing I will say on that is that he also goes on about injuries – every club suffers with injuries.
Rafa suffered with injuries. He was also left the players that Mc and the board had put together.
In the 10 games Rafa had with that same group of player, he achieved mid table form.
The fatal mistake we made – what got us relegated wasn’t recruitment or mentality. IT WAS NOT SACKING YOU SOONER MATE!!!. Had we give Rafa more games, I honestly believe he would have kept us up.

  29. Spot on Sharpy! I also agree about Sterling and Lallana. Sterling has been **** ever since his £50m move. How he got in instead of Townsend is beyond me. And is Kane really better than Sturridge? Don’t think so. I won’t even start about Henderson and Milner . . .

  30. Georgio – the grin reaper is a clown mate. He’s banging on about the ‘hierarchy’ – they made him part of the bloody hierarchy!!!.
Yes we need to get rid of these stupid transfer restrictions – but I’ll say again – with the same group of players Rafa managed mid table form. It was calculated that if Rafa had the team for the full season, we would have finished 11th.
That’s down to management, organisation & discipline – not coz your CF is 27 or 28.

As for Sterling. Finishing was never his strong point at Liverpool either mate. He got away with it coz he had Suarez & Sturridge in red hot form. I don’t think Liverpool lost a top player – infact I think they robbed Man City blind.

I have spoken to a friend who’s there and he said on the first night their bar was raided and attacked by local ultras after England fans were singing. The second and third night they were attacked by Russian thugs with balaclava’s on using knuckle dusters! What are we suppose to do, just turn the other cheek? Also in the stadium it was 100% undeniably Russina thugs again – only this time everyone could see it.

Bit tired of people just blaming England fans regardless of knowing the facts.

    Totally agree mate
English fans were seen throwing bottles at police but as far as I’ve read some of the Russian fans feel guilty how some of their compatriots have acted.
Lots of English fans have reported them singing and drinking when 300 Russians with knuckle dusters, telescopic truncheons, gumshield and even wearing England shirts, entered the area where the fans were singing and battered anyone around.
Apparently the Russian ultras have teamed up with Marseille ultras to fight the English.
Even the local youths armed with blades are joining in.
    Scary **** like

Yes the English fans can be loutish and unruly but what are you meant to do when 300 fans armed with weapons storm you when you’re pissed? The bloke knocked unconscious and kicked about like a ragdoll, who is on a life support machine didn’t want to tango..he was attacked by 3 russians

We’ve taken measures so the main hooligans can no longer travel. Did the Russians do the same? Doubt it

  35. The good news is that the England and Russian fans will now be hundreds of miles apart. I think it was madness to put them in Marseille which has a reputation for football violence. I think I said before it was a recipe for disaster.

Didn’t the Russians cause havoc at the last Euros as well? It is just bad management to put them into a sprawling port town with a history of violence. I have been to Marseille and I liked it but felt it had a sort of unsafe feel about it. I couldn’t put my finger on why, it just felt that way.

  36. Are we not still gonna be close to Russian fans at our next game too? Lille and Lens is like Bristol to Weston super Mare in distance which is the same distance as them two venues. So still not far enough apart.l

      (Quote)

  37. Oh, Lens and Lille are not that far apart, but far enough I think.

Marseille to Lens is 507 miles. The organisers really are taking the ****. It is like they set it up on purpose to make sure the England fans have as difficult time as they could? I mean, they could have played in Nice, or Monaco or Bordeaux, but no! Let’s have them travel the full length of the country between games. IDIOTS.

Lands End to John o’Groats = 603 miles.

      (Quote)

  38. Eric, Russia play Slovakia at 2pm uk time in Lille on Weds and the next day we play Wales at 2pm in Lens. It’s only a 35 minute journey between Lille and Lens by car and with the Russians already played their game the day before there is nothing to stop them travelling to Lens on our game day to carry on where they left off. Not to mention the French ultras which have been conveniently forgotten by UEFA in all this violence.

  39. Sad business between the English and Russian supporters. So much of it is caused by over drinking. It does sound like the main culprits are Russian but I imagine the English aren’t exactly acting like angels. Cut down on the drinking and you would cut down on the violence. Russia is a disaster thanks to Putin. The average life expectancy for men is in their mid 50’s. Alcoholism is a way of life in Russia.

i disagree mate. Ive seen the footage in the stadium. English fans running away from Russians. I didnt see one punch from an English fan. Ive seen the footage in the centre when 100+ Russian fans storm the bar where English fans are sitting having a beer. So you get stormed and run? leaving your dad and mates behind? while youre along being chased by 20 nutjobs from Russia? nice plan mate

Believe it or not mate, 90% of English fans want to go to tournaments, have a beer and a sing with their mates.

  42. One good thing now is that everyone has cottoned onto the Russian organised thugs. They can see what they’re up to.

If there are no Russian thugs in Lille over the next few days there won’t be any trouble. I can’t see there being any trouble between England and Welsh fans to be honest. If the Russians come to Lille they’ll no doubt be fighting us and the Welsh and that should be even further proof.

  43. I’m sorry but not all England fans are blameless for the prematch violence – though the stadium violence appeared to be all Russian.

I’m not on social media but a lad I work with was showing me stuff on his Instagram that England ‘fans’ had post and those clowns weren’t victims like.

Sadly you will always be fighting a loosing battle (pardon the pun) trying to stop these vicious idiots.
Allocate the fools a field somewhere and allow them to kick seven shades of **** out of each other I say.

What has worried me so far though is the stadium security.
There were flares & fireworks in the England game & yesterday an air bomb was set off at the start of the second half of the Croatia game. It sounded like the explosion you heard from the France game when it all kicked off in Paris.
How the hell are these things being allowed to get passed stadium security would be the question id be asking.

Fat Wayne had a decent game but that still does not excuse the fact that he had never been tried in that position before and Mr. Roy waited until one of the biggest games of his career to try it. It shows there was no plan, it was almost as if McClaren was managing the team again 🙂

On that subject, McClaren has now come out with a new set of excuses saying he was too compliant and in retrospect would have insisted on a centre back and centre forward. FFS, all he had to do was go into any pub in Newcastle on his first day and he would have been told that.
