Newcastle United ready to replace Steven Taylor with Arsenal man

Hayden

Newcastle United are planning to strengthen their backline with the signing of Isaac Hayden, according to reports from the Shields Gazette.

It was widely expected that manager Rafael Benitez was set to make a host of changes to his squad this summer and the Spaniard recently took a major decision by dispensing with the services of long serving defender Steven Taylor on a free transfer.

Along with Taylor, it is widely expected that captain Fabricio Coloccini will also be leaving St. James’ Park upon the reopening of the summer transfer window and Benitez clearly needs to recruit a new central defender in order to fill the void left at St. James’ Park by the departures of the two veterans.

Now according to reports from the Shields Gazette, claims are being made that Newcastle are currently considering a move for Arsenal youngster Isaac Hayden as a potential replacement for Taylor.

Hayden spent time on loan at Hull City last season and played a role in helping the Tigers earn promotion into the Premier League.

Hull are unlikely to re-sign Hayden this summer and as a result, the 21-year-old is expected to spend time on loan at another Championship club during the upcoming campaign.

Newcastle are said to be among a number of clubs interested in Hayden and the youngster moving to St, James’ Park this summer remains well within the realms of possibility.
