Newcastle United are in the running to sign former Sunderland star and current Liverpool struggler Simon Mignolet – a surprise link given his total lack of form in recent seasons.
This comes from the Daily Star (a dubious source I know), who claim that Celtic, Napoli, Wolves, Newcastle, Stoke and Southampton are all ‘in the market’ for the Belgian international this summer, with him recently losing his spot in the Liverpool side to Loris Karius.
Rafa may be planning an overhaul in the goalkeeping department this summer, with Dubravka all set to sign, one of Darlow/Elliot likely to leave and Sels have little to no future, however I just can’t see Mignolet arriving.
The 29-year-old has looked dodgy for a few seasons now, failing to ever convince on Merseyside despite a brilliant start to life in England with Sunderland.
With one error prone Belgian already on our hands, I can’t see Rafa acquiring another..
