According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United are staying ‘tight-lipped’ on a potential deal for Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
This comes after the Shields Gazette claimed earlier today that we ‘on the verge’ of signing of a new ‘winger’ over the next 48 hours – a report that came just hours after the Frenchman was caught ‘liking’ posts from Joelinton and the club on Instagram last night.
Lee Ryder does however reveal in that a £20m deal is there to be done if Newcastle do want to sign the 22-year-old winger, with his new piece also confirming that he’s a player we’ve scouted ‘extensively’ over the past season.
Ryder’s says the club did nothing to deny rumours of his potential arrival when asked earlier today – a move that is perhaps quite telling after new claims from the Gazette suggested a move for him could go through over the next 48 hours.
Saint-Maximin bagged 6 goals and 3 assists in Ligue 1 last season, with him being criticised at times for his final product, yet being praised for his pace, athleticism and incredible dribbling ability – with no player in Europe completing more successful take-ons than him last season!
