NUFC official spotted in Italy – Serie A winger, £30m striker & African defender all being watched?

According to Tuttosport, Newcastle arrived in Italy yesterday to watch AC Milan star Hakan Çalhanoğlu – but he may not be the only player we’re tracking.

The Turkish international started at the San Siro in their 0-0 draw with Sampdoria on Monday and played alongside recently linked striker Krzysztof Piatek – suggesting we were in Italy to watch more than one Milan attacker.

Not only that, TuttoMercatoWeb credited us with an interest in Sampdoria defender Omar Colley yesterday, claiming we were jetting out for talks – and he too also featured in the game, keeping both AC Milan attackers quiet in the stalemate at the San Siro.

Çalhanoğlu played the full 90 minutes from the left wing, Piatek started but was replaced by Milan new boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic on 55 minutes and Gambian centre-back Colley played the full 90 at centre-back.

All three players have been linked with Newcastle via the Italian press this week, so talk of a club scout attending AC Milan’s 0-0 draw with Sampdoria is either an easy story to make up or one that has legs. Time will tell.
