NUFC urged to re-sign Salomon Rondon on loan after shock Chinese Super League announcement

After news that the Chinese Super League has been postponed indefinitely after a coronavirus outbreak, ex-Mag Steve Howey has tipped Newcastle to make a shock loan move for Salomon Rondon.

The former NUFC loan star now plays under Rafa Benitez at Dalian Yifang, but looks set to be out of action for some time after this latest announcement in China.

The dramatic step follows the postponement of the World Indoor Athletics Championships – which were due to be held in China in March – and it’s claimed several star players in the CSL could seek temporary moves away in the coming days as a result.

With this and our need for another striker in mind, former Newcastle star Steve Howey believes we should make an enquiry for the popular Venezuelan:

It’s hypothetical and seems highly unlikely given the huge wage packet he’s said to earn out in China, but it’s not the worst shout in the world.

Rondon was outstanding last season and would be welcomed back by Newcastle fans, with him bagging 12 goals and 7 assists last season – along with 5 goals and 3 assists in 11 CSL games under Rafa Benitez.

Howey will be on Total Sport (radio) between 5-7pm tonight and has promised to discuss a potential move for Rondon during his appearance on BBC Radio Newcastle.

A deal worth doing and one to watch?…Or a complete non starter?

  1. Wages might not be a problem since his current club would have to pay him even though he wouldn’t be playing. So surely a deal could be struck. Brucey Boy mightn’t want him, maybe we’ll get Giroud instead. Who knows eh.

  2. And how does he get out of the country? LMAO.

He will have to have tests for the budweiservirus and that takes time lol

Talk about filling up a column for the sake of it jeebus.

  3. Pointless suggestion really, ”Postponed Indefinitely” could mean he’s recalled in two or three weeks and we’ve missed a chance of someone else who we would have for the rest of the season.
