George Caulkin drops more takeover hints – £300m Saudi deal now a matter of when, not if?

Well it’s been an interesting day so far regarding the takeover.

Interviews by Bruce talking as if it’s done, cryptic tweets from credible (and some not so credible) sources, Saudi Arabian TV saying it’s done, a tweet saying the same from someone who is apparently the Saudi Crown Prince’s brother, and a frankly insulting article from The Guardian’s Jonathon Liew basically tarring an entire city and fan base with one brush.

It’s become exhausting to be honest.

As usual, when there is a wiff of news that Ashely is finally leaving, George Caulkin’s Twitter goes mental. Not only is he the most reliable journalist, he is also close to Amanda Staveley.

He does well to reply to most, but after initially telling everyone that it might be a little too early for cans, he then got very cryptic, suggesting that a deal is not ‘officially’ done, but is

Have a look below, with this being Caulkin’s response when someone said he’d denied talk of Premier League approval:

That word “officially” seems to be the interesting one. They haven’t been told ‘officially’, but his previous comments suggest it really is a matter of when, not if.

See these below, with him stating he’s “sure” the deal will be given the green light – stating it “will” happen in time, we just need to be patient given the complexity of this takeover:

  2. Sick and tired of waiting to hear if its a yeay or a nay, and just as sick of the so called reliable sources saying it’s done. We have been here so many times I’ve lost count. I will believe it when it when its signed, sealed, and delivered. as for the reports coming out, about journalists and certain tv presenters hoping that it was anyone but Newcastle having certain new owners, well! Have you ever been to Newcastle, seen the city, the Passion of the fans, probably not, so the best thing for you lot to do, is Keep quiet. Here’s hoping.
