7 senior players transfer listed by Bruce with loan deal now dependent on outgoings – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are now looking to cash in on defensive duo Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune.

The same piece states that DeAndre Yedlin, Henri Saivet and Achraf Lazaar are also on the transfer list, with Lee Ryder confirming recently that Rolando Aarons and Yoshinori Muto are two others who’ve been asked to find new clubs.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, here’s the valuations of all seven players we’re reportedly looking to sell:

  • Fabian Schar – £11.7m
  • DeAndre Yedlin – £5.85m
  • Yoshinori Muto – £4.95m
  • Florian Lejeune – £4.3m
  • Henri Saivet – £720k
  • Rolando Aarons – £360k
  • Achraf Lazaar – £315k

The Chronicle also report that defensive outgoings could be needed before we are willing to sanction a loan move for Arsenal’s Rob Holding – which is no major surprise given we currently have SIX senior centre-backs on our books.

Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez appear to be our first-choice pairing at present, while both Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett are fit again and appear to be next in Bruce’s pecking order.

That then leaves Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune, and it seems both could be moved on this summer.

Schar has just 10 months left on his current deal and looked out of sorts and unmotivated over Project Restart, while Florian Lejeune has struggled badly for minutes under Steve Bruce and hasn’t quite looked the same player since returning from a second ACL injury.

The Chronicle claim Lejeune has attracted serious interest from Ligue 1, and it seems the club will now let the 29-year-old seek pastures new.

Hopefully, any funds raised from these transfers will be re-invested into the team, just like Mike Ashley claims, although we may struggle to find buyers for the likes of Lazaar, Aarons, Saivet and Muto!

  1. I hope those players’ agents have been busy then because this is all a bit late. I’m not surprised about it any of those listings tbh. I really like both Schär and Lejeune when they’re fully fit and in the case of Schär interested but it’s time for them to go. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong but looks like we make a loss on all those players except Schär.

  2. I would definitely let all 7 go even if we don’t get the money that they are reputedly valued at. If we don’t need them then we don’t need the cost of their wages either. Just ship them out.

  3. Schär was crowned player of the season a year ago, now he gets dropped by our Mastermind in charge. I agree many have to be solf

I understand we are far from being in a position to imagine who Pep, Klopp or Poch would play. To bring the club forward they would surely play defenders who can play football. Well my point, we have to accept we are a relegation candidate and for that you need less talented players but pure fighters when we play the bottom three. For aiming higher you would need players who are comfortable on the ball, but obviously thats not our aim here…hence lets cache in and use the pounds to overcome the covid losses or to by championship material. Future is bright….
