Danny Murphy sends mind-boggling message to Saudi owners live on talkSPORT – Video

We’ve seen some pretty awful takes from pundits on talkSPORT over the past two years, but Danny Murphy has weighed in with one of the worst we’ve seen this morning.

The former Liverpool midfielder has told the Saudis they can’t look to ‘run before they can walk’, suggesting we should stick with Steve Bruce as there’s no one more equipped than him to get us out of a relegation battle…

Could someone remind Murphy that Steve Bruce’s win rate – 28% from 463 games – is the third worst of ALL TIME at Premier League level.

Watch Murphy’s mind-boggling message to the new NUFC owners below:

A lot of pundits on talkSPORT are clearly on the wind-up and looking for a reaction, but Murphy seems deadly serious here.

To suggest we should stick with someone who has “been there, done it” at the bottom, opposed to appointing someone who has “been there, done it” at the top is baffling. Just because Bruce is used to relegation battles doesn’t mean he’s more likely than Conte to beat Crystal Palace next weekend!

There’s a reason Bruce has become used to relegation battles and a reason why top managers have never been stuck in the middle of one.

Good managers don’t fail to win any of their opening seven games of the season and win just FIVE of their last 37 games in charge.

The sooner Steve Bruce is sacked, the better.

  1. Nice one Olly.
Your words – “Good managers don’t fail to win any of their opening seven games of the season”
So you are finally willing to admit that Benitez, who failed to win any of the opening seven games of the 2018/19 season, was not a good manager!

You’ve conveniently missed the second point that follows the ‘and’…

Good managers can fail to win their opening 7 games. But they won’t go on a run of FIVE wins in 37 games.

Rafa went on a longer losing streak, but we still finished 13th as he actually had a plan. Bruce’s NUFC were only going in one direction had he stayed and that’s down. Stop comparing the two.

  3. he has made a very good career at failing at every post he has had he is a master of failure thats why Ashley give him the job in the first place but now we can look forward to new and better times now

  4. With Ashley gone and the prospect of a new manager on the horizon, it’s just a matter of time before we see new signings and a much better mindset from the players.
This will give a huge boost to their gameplay.
