Newcastle now attempting to pull off surprise January move for Renato Sanches – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle are trying to beat AC Milan to the signing of Renato Sanches.

After being in and out of the Lille side this season, it’s said the Ligue 1 side are willing to cash in on the Portuguese international in January.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim that we have launched an initial enquiry, asking about the 24-year-old’s availability ahead of the winter window.

The report claims that we are willing to offer the explosive midfielder ‘much higher figures’ than AC Milan, suggesting our Saudi-backed owners are keen to outmuscle rival clubs in what will be a difficult time to do business.

Sanches spent a season on loan at Swansea during the 2017/18 season, however it looks like Lille want to cash in while they can, with him entering the final year of his current contract at LOSC at the end of the season.

He’s an explosive talent who often impresses me, but it’s difficult to say if this latest transfer rumour is remotely realistic – never mind true.

This may be the sort of signing we could make next summer should we stay up, but I don’t see a £30m talent agreeing to join in January if we’re plummeting towards the Championship.

  1. Renato Sanches – a version of ASM with 2 small differences.
1 less of a headless chicken and more of a man with a plan.
    2 he can actually shoot.
If he comes in – ASM goes out.

They’re totally different players to be fair.

One is an explosive CM, the other is an explosive winger/forward.
