Spotted at St James’ Park – Photo shows end of Mike Ashley as Sports Direct sign comes down

The Mike Ashley era is well and truly over at St James’ Park, as the hideous Sports Direct signs are finally being removed from the stadium as we speak.

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder was one of several North-East reporters to share word from Newcastle United confirming that work is being carried out this week, with plans in place to rid the ground of all signage by the time we take on Man City on December 19.

This comes after an image circulated on social media of the Sports Direct sign (just under the big screen) being taken down by a crane earlier today.

See it for yourselves below:

Some wondered if that photo had been altered with when first leaked on Twitter, however it has now been confirmed that the pictures are real and St James’ Park will return to its former glory when we take on the champions in two weeks time.

The last remnant of the Ashley era will soon be gone… is it #cans for Toon fans once again?

  1. “The final coffin is set to be hammered into the Mine Ashley era at NUFC”

I see Charlie Bennett already considers himself a Chronicle legend and has taken to their quality standards like a **** to Walter
It’s quantity over quality from here on in , or as the great Bard said – “any olde sh!te will do”.

    WTF is the “final coffin”?

Olly – don’t you have any quality control on the site?
