Diego Carlos wants out & Euro 2020 star also a target as NUFC enter crucial 24 hours – Report

Diego Carlos has told Sevilla he wants to leave the club this month amid serious interest from Newcastle United, according to new reports today.

This comes from the Northern Echo, who reports that are are set to hold further talks with the La Liga side in the next 24 hours in a bid to agree a fee for the Brazilian centre-back ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leeds.

Chief writer Scott Wilson claims that the 28-year-old is now keen to swap Spain for St James’ Park after being offered a ‘massive pay increase.’

He also writes that, despite us having two bids rejected, further discussions with Sevilla over the weekend left us believing that an ‘agreement is possible.’

This suggests a deal is there to be done, however it seems our interest in Sven Botman has ended for now, with Lille’s president confirming on Saturday that the 22-year-old was not for sale this month.

Elsewhere, the Northern Echo also state that are ‘sounding out’ a move for Atalanta star Robin Gosens.

Sky Italy revealed on Friday that the German international – who bagged a goal and two assists in four games at Euro 2020 – had ‘agreed terms’ over a potential move to Tyneside, so it’s interesting that a North-East reporter has now backed up talk of our interest in the attacking left wing-back.
