According to new reports, Callum Wilson is targeting a return to action next month after making ‘good progress’ on his recovery from a calf injury.
This comes from Football Insider, who claim that he’s planning to be back for Newcastle’s trip to Norwich on April 23rd.
This could mean he’s back for the following five games – which could extend to six if our postponed clash with Crystal Palace is rearranged in this period:
- Norwich (A) – April 23rd
- Liverpool (H) – April 30th
- Man City (A) – May 7th
- Arsenal (H) – May 15th
- Burnley (A) – May 22nd
The striker has also been spotted doing some work in the gym with his fellow NUFC teammates on Tuesday, suggesting he is stepping up his return from injury:
Wilson remains our top scorer after bagging six goals in his opening 15 games this season, however he’s been sidelined with a calf injury after being forced off in December’s 1-1 draw with Man Utd.
Thankfully, we’ve coped well in his absence. Replacement Chris Wood has only managed one goal in nine games since his £25m move from Burnley in January, however the team has pulled off six wins, two draws and just one defeat in the nine games the 30-year-old has missed,
Let’s hope Football Insider have got this one right and we have Wilson back in action for what looks like a winnable trip to Norwich next month!
