Steve Bruce now hoping to strike unpopular deal with Newcastle United this summer – Report

According to i news, Steve Bruce’s West Brom are one of several clubs looking to sign Elliot Anderson on loan this summer.

Mark Douglas reports that the 19-year-old talent is already a wanted man after looking levels above League Two during his spell with Bristol Rovers.

He’s bagged seven goals and three assists in 20 appearances for Joey Barton’s side, putting in a host of dazzling man of the match displays and spearheading their late push for promotion.

Anderson will be handed a chance to impress Eddie Howe during pre-season, however i news report that West Brom, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday have already made their interest known.

With most of the Championship likely to be keen on the hugely talented midfielder, it could be a big mistake to leave him with Steve Bruce.

He may have handed the Geordie teenager his senior debut back in January 2021, but he then stood in the way of a much needed loan move later that month – only to deny him any game time over the second half of the 2021/22 season.

Anderson would be far better served working under a forward thinking manager who hands opportunities to young players and promotes an an attractive brand of football. After all, would you trust Bruce to oversee one of the biggest talents we’ve produced on Tyneside for many a year?!

  1. Yes! let’s ruin a really promising player by loaning him to Bruce, he will be unfit in no time at all, and will be playing negatively instead of expressing himself on the pitch.
I would sooner he joined Sunderland and that’s saying something.

  2. Think only Maxxi had any time for Bruce as he didn’t have to train very much, so I doubt anyone will be signing for Bruce anytime soon, unless he stumps up £50m for his mate Maxxi.

  3. A goal every 3 games in League 2 hardly screams “levels above”, or “one of the biggest talents we’ve produced on Tyneside for many a year”.
In fact it hardly gets him into the top 5 in the league.
That said, I supposed claiming he’s the best to come out of the academy is all relative.
