Aston Villa looking to sign another NUFC target just 48 hours after Kamara coup – The Athletic

Just two days after former Newcastle target Boubacar Kamara opted to sign for Aston Villa, another target Diego Carlos could also be on his way to the Birmingham-based club, according to The Athletic.

We were heavily linked with the Sevilla defender back in January alongside Lille’s Sven Botman, but a fee could not be decided on by the two clubs and the former Europa League winner appeared happy to honour his contract.

By the end of the window, we had settled on Brighton’s Dan Burn instead who has been a great addition to the team and a perfect character to have in the dressing room.

It now seems as though Villa manager Steven Gerrard will pip us to yet another signing after Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara expressed that the former Liverpool man was crucial in helping him choose between the two clubs.

One positive we could take from missing out on the Brazilian centre-back is that he is 29-years-old and would be another ageing signing to add to the likes of Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn and Chris Wood who are all over 30.

Instead, we can perhaps focus on more youthful targets who we can develop into top quality players and can be part of this long-term project we are hoping to build.
