Sky Sports: Newcastle United flop seals surprise return to English football

Sky Sports have confirmed that former Newcastle United striker Jon Dahl Tommason has just been named the new Blackburn Rovers head coach.

After leaving his role at Malmo FF last year, they report that he’s now replaced Tony Mowbray at Ewood Park and signed a deal until 2025 after securing a work permit.

The £3.5m Dane arrived as one of Europe’s most promising talents after bagging 18 goals for Heerenveen, however his time on Tyneside was a huge disappointment in the end.

In 35 appearances across the 1997-98 season, Tommason scored just four times and was sold to Feyenoord for just shy of £3m after just one year at St James’ Park.

Fast forward almost 25 years, the former AC Milan forward is now in management with Swedish giants Malmo FF.

He won the Allsvenskan title during his first season in charge and took the Swede’s to the group stage of the Champions league after progressing through four qualifiers, however he left the club by mutual consent last December and has just sealed a return to England.

  1. A atm shunted up front as a lone striker was obv going to struggle anyone who watched him could see he had class. He proved it at Milan playing as a atm so saying he was a flop is lazy without taking into account what actually went on.
He was used incorrectly by a incompetent manager but the player gets the stick LMAO
