Medical now ‘confirmed’ as Newcastle agree fee and personal terms with player – The Telegraph

Newcastle have now confirmed that Nick Pope will undergo a medical on Tyneside tomorrow, according to The Telegraph.

After The Athletic revealed that we’d struck a deal ‘in principle’ last night, Luke Edwards (Telegraph) claims that everything is now agreed between Newcastle, Burnley and the player himself.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £8-10m – a snip for a proven Premier League goalkeeper in his prime – while personal terms mustn’t have been a problem on the players side.

The Telegraph reported yesterday that Pope was ‘desperate’ to complete a move to St James’ Park and it seems he’ll get his wish on Thursday, with the 30-year-old stopper expected to sign tomorrow if and when he passes a medical on Tyneside.

Pope will compete with Martin Dubravka for the number one spot next season, although he’s likely to have received assurances over his game time given he’s bidding to force his way back into Gareth Southgate’s England plans ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
