Newcastle eyeing ‘next Sadio Mane’ as Senegal star becomes available at cut-price fee – Report

According to 90min, Newcastle United are showing interest in Marseille forward Bamba Dieng – who has been labelled the ‘next Sadio Mane’.

The 22-year-old, who had a breakthrough season last year, bagging eight goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances – and earned himself a call up to the Senegalese national team, where he was part of the AFCON winning squad.

Graeme Bailey reports that ourselves, along with a few other Premier League sides, have been alerted by his availability, believing he could now be available at a bargain fee.

Both Newcastle and West Ham were eyeing up the young striker back in January but Dieng – who can play up top or out wide – was unwilling to leave France at the time.

However, the situation has now changed with new manager Igor Tudor favouring to not play the forward in pre-season and leaving his future at the club in doubt.

Despite questions being raised by the squad, it seems the club are still pushing the international towards the exit in order to free up funds for former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

Wolves, Leeds and Everton have also been linked, but this feels like a rumour that could have some legs based on his availability, age, our prior interest and his ability to play in a few different positions in attack.
