PSG may hijack NUFC’s move for ‘new top target’ & striker available for £12.5m – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has provided updates on two strikers who’ve been heavily linked with potential moves to St James’ Park over the past week – Goncalo Ramos and Bamba Dieng.

He reports that we’ve now identified the Benfica striker as our ‘new top target’ and are preparing an official proposal for Ramos, with this coming after Sky Sports reported last night that a bid ‘in excess of £25m’ was imminent.

However, Romano reveals that PSG are also keen on the Portuguese forward, having shortlisted the 21-year-old back in June as potential summer target. After the Ligue 1 giants beat us to a deal for Hugo Ekitike last month, we’ll have to hope they don’t do the same here!

Elsewhere, the renowned journalist claims that fellow Toon target Bamba Dieng is now available for just €15m (£12.5m).

A host of outlets have confirmed our interest in the Senegalese international over the past few days and Romano reports that the 22-year-old is expected to leave Marseille ‘soon’, saying ‘more than two Premier League clubs’ are keen on the versatile forward who can play out wide or up top.

The Italian has also denied claims that Toon-linked winger Ismaila Sarr is on his way to Leeds, saying a host of clubs are interested but no agreement has been reached between the Whites and Watford, despite report in France suggesting a deal was ‘close.’
