Updates on Guimaraes and Saint-Maximin arrive ahead of Bournemouth clash – Good & bad news?

The Mail’s Craig Hope has revealed that Allan Saint-Maximin looks set to miss Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth at St James’ Park.

The Frenchman has missed our last three league games after suffering a hamstring injury in the latter stages of last month’s 1-1 draw at Wolves, and it seems he won’t be risked this weekend.

As for Bruno Guimaraes, Hope states that it ‘sounds more positive’ on the Brazilian’s fitness, suggesting he has a chance of returning against Howe’s former club.

Our midfield maestro hasn’t featured in the Premier League since that 3-3 draw with Man City, with him also managing a hamstring issue picked up in our Carabao Cup win over Tranmere.

The North-East reporter adds that we are nursing a ‘few fitness concerns’ going into the weekend, suggesting the likes of Callum Wilson may be sidelined once again – along with Saint-Maximin – when the Cherries come to town.

We’ll have to hope there’s no new injury issues, as fans noticed that the likes of Miguel Almiron, Jacob Murphy, Paul Dummett and Elliot Anderson didn’t feature in yesterday’s training photos.

Here’s what Hope had to say in his latest injury update on Twitter:

‘Newcastle still nursing a few fitness concerns heading into weekend.

‘I don’t expect to see Saint-Maximin from what I’m hearing.

‘Sounds more positive on Bruno, yes.’
