Jeff Stelling shuts down Gabby Agbonlahor after talkSPORT pundit aims another dig at NUFC

After developing a bizarre dislike for Newcastle United over the past few years, it’s clear Gabby Agbonlahor is struggling to accept our recent upturn in fortunes.

Speaking on talkSPORT last night after our 5-1 win over Brentford – a win that sent us into the top six – the former Aston Villa forward question whether Newcastle are a “big club”, suggesting a packed out stadium and loyal fans doesn’t warrant that status when we haven’t won a trophy in years.

Jamie O’Hara was having none of it, but Sky Sports star Jeff Stelling has since put Agbonlahor in his place with a brilliant response on Twitter.

The Gillette Soccer Saturday host insists that a ‘big club’ isn’t all about what you have won, saying our “one club city” brimming with black and white, “fantastic fans” and a long waiting list for season tickets speaks for itself, also reminding Gabby that he’s never scored at St James’ Park!

Here’s what he had to say in response to Agbonlahor’s comments on talkSPORT last night:

‘Newcastle a one club city where you see only black and white. They have fantastic fans and a mega waiting list for season tickets. They are a BIG club – it is not just about what you have won. And By the way, Gabby never scored there for Villa!!’

  1. So I guess Agbonlahor won’t be signing for us any time soon then!

****, that’s a shame – coz if we were in desperate need of a forward to score once every 5 games, who had 13 years experience at Aston Villa, he would have been my go-to player!!

  2. In 2 seasons 2015 – 2017 Agbonlahor played 28 games and scored 2 goals which is 1 more goal than Peter Schmeichel who played 29 games for Villa !!
