Following our big win at Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, Jamie Redknapp had some huge praise for Newcastle United new boy Sven Botman.
The Sky Sports pundit believes the towering 22-year-old looks capable of becoming one of the best centre-backs we’ve seen in the Premier League, describing him as a “leader of men” and “special player.”
The Dutchman has been outstanding since sealing a summer move from Lille. We’ve never lost a game when he’s started, with him coming out on top in recent battles with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ivan Toney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Harry Kane.
Speaking on Super Sunday after the game, here’s what Redknapp had to say:
“Sven Botman at the back, we’ve seen some good centre-backs in this league but he’s got the capabilities to be better than them.
“He’s a real leader of men – what a special player he is.”
Botman has been described as ‘Rolls Royce of a defender’ by our fans of late and it’s easy to see why, as he’s not only a giant presence and dominant in the air, but also comfort on the ball and calm under pressure.
