Toon target James Maddison has revealed that there’s been a “bit of banter” between him, Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope following recent links with a potential move to St James’ Park.
He admits there was a “bit of speculation” last summer – where Newcastle were believed to have bid twice for the Leicester City star – and it seems our lads in the England camp aren’t letting him forget it!
It remains to be seen if we’ll return with a third bid in the January transfer window, but before that we’ll face the Foxes in our first Premier League game back on Boxing Day.

All four will be hoping for minutes in tonight’s final group game against Wales, although it’s unlikely Gareth Southgate will rotate heavily on a night where top spot in Group B is up for grabs.
Maddison is already good friends with Wilson, with the Coventry-born pair often spotted together when the squad arrived in Qatar.
