£300m deal set to be discussed as Toon chiefs plan sponsorship talks in Saudi Arabia – Report

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United’s commercial team will hold talks with Saudi Arabian airline company SAUDIA over a 10-year sponsorship deal worth a whopping £300m

Eddie Howe and his team will soon fly out to Saudi Arabia for a warm-weather training camp, including a friendly against Al-Hila on 8 December, which is being sponsored by SAUDIA.

However, we are said to be in negotiations with the company to secure a sponsorship deal that could earn the club £30m-per-year for the coming decade, with SAUDIA pushing to become our permanent front-of-shirt sponsor now we’ve entered our last year with FUN88.

After the appointment of Peter Silverstone as our new Chief Commercial Officer, it was clear that we’d soon look to secure a lucrative, long-term deal to boost our transfer funds in the near future.

Despite the news, an announcement is not expected to be made until at least the spring of next year, but it certainly puts us in an exciting position and we can hopefully start to compete financially with those at the very top.

  1. Let me try to understand what you are saying here.

SAUDIA, the Saudi Arabian national airline, owned by the Saudi Government, are about to have talks with Newcastle’s Commercial group (owned by the Saudi Government) about a sponsorship deal?
If you break it down we’ve pretty been through this before with Newcastle being “sponsored” by Sports Direct. Or was it the other way?

Anyway – the difference being that with PIF at least they are using it as a means to pump money INTO the club.
