Watch Newcastle lift Diriyah Cup as Toon owners greet players after 5-0 win in Saudi – Video

Newcastle United were awarded with the Diriyah Cup at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium on Thursday night after a commanding display from Eddie Howe’s Mags saw us put FIVE past Al-Hilal.

A first-half brace from Joelinton was followed by two second half goals from Miguel Almiron, with U21 talent Dylan Stephenson rounding off the scoring to seal a convincing win for the Toon.

After the game, chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan joined co-owners Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben on the field as an on-field platform was erected to present the players with the cup.

Watch the brilliant scenes in Saudi Arabia below, with Newcastle fans all over the globe hoping this is the first of many trophy lifts!

It’s not quite the trophy we’re all dreaming of, but great to see the team look fit, confident and raring to go ahead of upcoming games against Bournemouth (Carabao Cup), Leicester and Leeds later this month.

Next up, a flight back to Tyneside following our warm-weather camp in Riyadh and meeting with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano a week on Saturday.
